“but  you  don't  need  to  deal  with  it  yourself,  my  queen.”  yrene  is  already  digging  through  the  pouch  attached  to  her  belt,  rummaging  around  for  a  small  jar  of  a  willow  bark  cream.  it's  a  small  cut  from  a  thorny  plant,  not  needing  more  than  a  bandage.  yrene  normally  would  reserve  the  cream  for  more  painful  wounds,  but  she'll  spare  nothing  for  the  queen.  helaena  is  one  of  the  few  truly  kind  people  in  the  keep,  she  thinks,  so  she'll  help  her  more  than  she  would  help  some  of  the  others.  “here.  this  should  numb  the  sting.”

i didn't dress like this to sit down.

the edges of his lips twitched , fighting the urge to grin too broadly as his gaze swept over her appreciatively. if he were a smarter man , he probably would've stayed studying only her face , as most men no doubt did , considering who her husband was. but jamie was nothing if not brazen , so as he took in the elegant swaths of silk & lace , dusty rose pink buttons sewn to golden yellow , he swore it was like looking into the sun itself. it was an interesting change , but he'd always seen her as someone more keen toward moonlight than sun.

part of him had already guessed that this dress most likely wasn't hers , either that or she'd reserved it for special occasions. either way , it made his chest tighten.          ❛             aye. though a walk through the garden shouldn't take too long , milady.            ❜          queen rhaenyra had suggested helaena needed some fresh air , especially after alicent had seen so cagey around her , so jamie had offered his assistance in accompanying her. his broad arm extended for her to take , brow inching upward as his head cocked , an easy smile crossing his bearded maw.          ❛             after , i'll see if ye can spend some time with yer wee lass. i'd bet she needs some fresh air , too.            ❜
