After lugging our bags to the train station, we settled down for a McDonalds breakfast and wait for our train. It took us 7 hours to get from KL to Singapore. After the breezy border crossing into Malaysia, getting into Singapore was a lot more hassle. I was particularly interested by the warning carried on the back of the entry card stating that drug smugglers would receive the death penalty, these kids mean business.
Unfortunately there is no metro by the train station. So we had to negotiate a bus ride to the closest stop. And 20 odd stops later we were at the airport. I had heard nothing but good things about it, people where banged on about it like it was the most stupendous place in the world. It was OK for an airport, the true magic of the airport must lies beyond the security checks.
There was just enough time to share one last meal before we had to say our goodbyes. In keeping with our relationship, we headed for Macca's. And then that was it, time for Helen to jet out of my life.
I could not be dealing with the hassle of the public transport after the long day so I jumped into a taxi. I had another long train ride to meet up with Tim and Lucy in Malacca. My train would arrive in a town just outside of Malacca at 5am... so no chance of getting any sleep here or I would miss my stop and end up back in Kuala Lumpur.
The nice conductor though kept an eye on me and told me when to get off. Once at my stop, I had to wait till morning to get a bus into Malacca. Exhausted, I camped out on the waiting room floor and had a nap till morning
