Missouri Coneflower

Rudbeckia missouriensis

This species is endemic to the Ozarks of Missouri and Arkansas, where it usually grows in limestone and dolomite glades. There's also a few scattered populations in Texas, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Louisiana. It thrives in full sun and dry, well-drained soil.

This is apparently a striking feature of zinnias – flowers within flowers – otherwise known as “composite flowers".

Moonshine sunflower

Just a few of the flowers that are growing in my butterfly garden.  I can’t wait for the Envy zinnias to appear because they’re green not to mention the Mexican sunflowers.  I had no idea that zinnias were related to sunflowers.  And now I’m finding out that cosmos are in that same family too.
