________________________________________________________________
Today has been tiring. It's been a week since you had to sit in the company of your new mortal enemy, trying to keep him entertained and making excuses for your friend/the man you love- for his lack of an appearance that day. Apparently, Mr Kim hadn't let him go until he had rewritten the entire paper to perfection.
Fucking favouritism!
Not that you'd ever complain about Jungkook's achievements, though. No matter how he earns it. In the end, however, you had to spend an hour and a half with Kim Taehyung as Jungkook never showed up. Then Jungkook had fallen into a spiral of anxiety that he already messed up his chances with Taehyung and you had to do TED talks to comfort him and motivate him.
MOTIVATE HIM!
For fuck's sake! You don't know why your life is such a misery.
You drop your bag on the floor next to your bed as you pad over to your window, looking over your neighbor’s house. In fact, right into Jungkook’s room. A room right across from his has served to be both a blessing and a curse. Blessing since all you have to do is be a creep and peer inside his room. Even if he’s not there. Even if the curtains are down and you can’t see anything. Even if all you can see is his silhouette moving around. You have learned to take immense relief in having him so close to you, just within your eyesight.
Then there’s the curse. Curse of sometimes witnessing the girls who end up on his black silk covered bed. Sometimes, you’re so cursed to see not just silhouettes but the two people lost in pleasure right in the flesh. Some days you’re cursed to listen to the moans. Groans. Creaks of the bed if it’s a wild day. You don’t know how many times you’ve cried wearing headphones, whatever song you listened to blasting in your ears at full volume.
Still, you refused to change your room, not that you had many options in your cramped house, anyway. But even without that excuse, it always has been comforting to know he’s right there within your reach. Even when it hurts. Like now. You sigh as you notice that the curtains are drawn in his room and there’s no light coming in. He’s not home yet. You don’t know where he is. Maybe with Taehyung? It’s not like he’s to tell you his whereabouts every five minutes.
You groan, walking back to your bed and plopping down. The stained, yellowed ceiling stares back at you. The exhaustion is pulling at your bones. Maybe it’s not just the work and academic stress. Maybe it’s just that you’ve been continuously restless ever since Jungkook admitted to liking Taehyung. You try to cope with it. You do. Every waking minute—no scratch that, even in your sleep, you try to make peace with the fact that he’s fallen for someone else. Again. And there’s nothing you could do but accept it and move on. But the problem is, if it was that easy, you would’ve done it already.
Even now, when you don’t know where the hell he is, it leaves your mind in a restless state that you feel physically ill. It’s not that he’s never left your texts unread or that you always knew his whereabouts. Other days you didn’t mind it. These days? You do.
You check your phone for the millionth time.
You: Are you going home straight after classes? (5. 21 p.m.)
It’s been hours since you sent that text but Jungkook hasn’t even read it. What if he’s with Taehyung? What if they’re getting closer?
You squeeze your eyes shut and bite your tongue so you won’t scream the way you want to. Sometimes you want to hit yourself. Because what the hell is wrong with you? If he’s getting closer to the person he likes, you should be happy. Goddammit you need a distraction. If only your brain would ever agree with what you want though. Even before you can try to distract yourself and even without you knowing, you're back to thinking about him. Him. Him. Him…
You close your eyes, giving up trying to block the images of Jungkook playing in your mind. His smile. His black eyes. His lip ring. His piercings. Tattoos. Oh fuck his tattoos. He’s already good fucking looking. Why would he have to go and get motherfucking tattoos too. Fuck, how would it feel to have that arm covered in tattoos wrapped around your throat. Or better, buried between your thighs. You’ve heard the women in his bed practically scream so there’s no doubt he can steal your ability to walk for a few hours if he wants to. You wish he would. You wonder how it’d feel. To be pinned beneath him as he rocks into you. Losing his mind for you as desperately as you do for him. Moaning and groaning your name. Praising you. His cock driving into you over and over again.
A soft whimper escapes you. You’ve walked through this path before. Your pathetic imagination gets the better of you and there’d be nothing you could do but give in. Besides, you’re at least allowed some kind of reprieve right? It’s no harm to anyone. Allowing your mind to sink into even deeper fantasies, you unbutton your denim hastily and waste no time pushing one hand inside your pants and beneath the cotton underwear.
Your fingers graze over your wetness. It should be ridiculous how wet you get by the mere thought of a man. But here you are. You place two fingers over your throbbing clit and start drawing figure eights as your brain paints images of Jungkook on top of you, giving you a ghost of the feeling of how it’d be to be so full of him, stretched around his cock. You imagine his husky voice moaning for you.
“Kookie…” You breathe as your body starts going taut, already about to explode with pleasure. Your breaths are coming ragged as you buck your hips into your own hand, pretending it’s his. Getting closer and closer—
The door to your room bursts open, making you scream, pull your hand out and sit down all in a span of half a second, just as Jungkook barges in.
“Guess what?” He beams, completely disregarding your startled state and the obvious proof of what you were doing. Or you don’t think he notices anything anyway. Too caught up in his own mind.
“What the hell?” You snap, dragging a pillow into your lap and wiping your hand on your thigh discreetly. “Do you know anything about knocking?” You furrow though you’re not really mad at him. You don’t think you’ll ever be able to get really angry at him. Jungkook’s beaming expression doesn’t waver for even a second. He clicks his tongue as he jumps into your bed. Stomach first.
“As if you’d have anything to hide from me.” He snorts. You gasp in offense.
“I do. A lot actually. What if I was changing or something?” You furrow.
“Oh c’mon woman, I’ve changed your clothes when you were drunk more than I can fucking count. So, will you please shut up and listen to me.” Jungkook rolls his eyes. Playfully but all you feel is the way your heart clenches. He says that as if it's nothing. Like seeing you naked is as normal as breathing. No biggies at all. But why? Maybe that’s the problem. Maybe you’ve grown too close to him that he doesn’t see you as a woman anymore. But then he’d fallen for a man too, hadn’t he? Then why? Why would he never see you like that?
You force yourself to react to his rude gesture with a roll of your own eyes. You have to pretend nothing is wrong. You can do it. You’ve done it plenty of times. Yet you’re not ready to ignore the fact he just barged in. “Still…” You say sternly and gasp. “Wait! How did you get in anyway? I thought the front door was locked.” With furrowed brows, you bring your hand to scratch your neck.
“Your Mom.” Jungkook says, changing his position into a seated one. “Now will you–”
“She’s back so soon? I thought she’d gone for groceries.” You interrupt him, not really wanting to listen to him since you know it’s nothing good but also genuinely curious what your mother is doing. You’re certain that just as you came home, she left for groceries and you locked the front door after you. Then your mother is as unpredictable as a stray cat. Nobody knows what she does. It’s annoying that she decided to stay home though. You don’t like it.
“I don’t know. She’s home.” Jungkook shrugs and then pouts. “So, you won’t listen to me?”
That pout melts you. Of course it does. You can’t really ignore him. Even though his words might gut you. “Sorry, sorry.” You scratch your neck again before settling in and paying all your attention to him. “You just startled me. What is it?”
Jungkook’s expression goes back to beaming like a ray of sunshine. “Tae asked me if I want to hit the gym with him tomorrow!” A shit eating grin appears on his face. Stark contrast to yours. You feel like your body has grown heavy suddenly. This shouldn’t be such a devastating thing to hear honestly. It’s not like he confessed to Jungkook or something. Jungkook, however, is a certified gym rat. And if there’s anything that would make him like someone more than he already does would be to share that part of his life with him.
“Oh!” You gulp, failing miserably to hide your disappointment. “But–I–um–thought… thought we were going together.” Then you add, worsening your own situation. Somehow, it doesn’t deter Jungkook’s enthusiasm.
“Course we are.” He starts rocking back and forth excitedly, making your tummy flutter. He looks like a giant baby bunny. Gives you all kind of fucked up sensations. Urges to just reach out and swallow him whole. “I told you I need your help, right? So, I need you there. All of us can go together.”
Butterflies in your stomach strangle in his words and die a quick death. You know you agreed to help but you don’t want to be a third wheel. No. You’ve done that with Ysela. Sitting back and watching them dote on each other. Only you’d know the pain. You thought you could do it again. Maybe not. You sigh. “But what do you need help with at the fucking gym?” You do your very best to keep your emotions in check.
“I don’t know. We still need to know if he’s into men, (___). Maybe, you can keep an eye on him. See if he’s staring at the asses of hot girls?” Jungkook says thoughtfully.
“He could very well be into both men and women.” You roll your eyes.
“Exactly! So you can keep an eye on whether he’s looking at men’s asses too.” He perks up then gives you a look. “ C’mon, (___)! I’m not gonna ditch you just because he asked to join. You’re my best friend.”
There it is. Again. Best friend!
Fucking best friend!
That’s it. Nothing more. Never will be. The words slice through you like a knife through smooth butter. You don’t even like going to the gym. It’s simply not your thing. But you’ve kept up with it simply because it’s just one thing you had with Jungkook. Just you two. For years. Now it’s ruined.
Oh, you hate Kim Taehyung with a passion.
You hate him.
…………………………..
You don’t like being in the gym. Running on a treadmill and lifting weights has never been appealing to you in any kind of way. Especially the part where you have to leave home for the gym has always come out as a pure torture. Sure, it has its own perks. At least you manage to maintain a body that would’ve been a dream otherwise. Still, you would’ve much preferred to do home pilates and be done with it. But you did it anyway. A place that’s not your favorite has become a safe haven for you when you share it with Jeon Jungkook. No matter how unbearable it is to run on a stupid machine that never gets you anywhere, you find it’s not that bad when Jungkook is running next to you. Bench press hasn’t been that bad when he is there to lend a hand. So has everything else. With Jungkook, you’ve been on cloud nine in hell.
Not today, though. No. Today you ran alone. It was Kim fucking Taehyung who stood there with you, watching you like a hawk while you struggled to lift double of your weight for no fucking good reason. Then you spend the rest of the session watching Jungkook grin and blush like an idiot whenever Taehyung said something stupid. Something utterly and unbelievably stupid! But Jungkook was having the time of his life. It was annoying. Madly so. But there was nothing you could do but watch. Watch while burning in your own hell. Doing your utmost best not to cry.
Surprisingly, or not so surprisingly, you have succeeded. Yet it’s still infuriatingly annoying as you’re walking back from the gym, side by side with the two men. Jungkook mindlessly talking about everything and anything that comes to his mind. Taehyung trying to engage you in the conversation which is even more annoying. Why would he even try? What’s the point of trying to be nice to you? You don’t care in the slightest.
It’s a short walk from the gym to both yours and Jungkook’s houses and Taehyung had said something about getting the bus from the next bus stop. For some reason, it feels like miles away to you. So you stop suddenly, jerking your head toward the cafe among the dozen other shops next to the gym.
“I need a coffee.” You mumble, just so you can get away from Taehyung’s endless questions and Jungkook’s lovestruck gaze.
“You shouldn’t take that much sugar–” Jungkook starts. You know. He’s made sure the words are engraved into your mind. You try to tell him that you know but don’t care, but it’s Taehyung who butts in first.
“Hell yes!” He exclaims with such enthusiasm, you raise a brow at him. “I mean, I normally don’t drink coffee but maybe I can try what you guys like.” He shrugs, looking from you to Jungkook. Just like that, the man who was about to give you a four hour lecture regarding your bad habits, bites down his bottom lip. Grinning.
Oh, for the sake of fuck! Can he be any more obvious than that?
“You sure?” Jungkook asks.
“So, you drink coffee? I thought you didn’t.” Taehyung snorts softly and says in a teasing voice. You look between them, that familiar sinking sensation enveloping you. So far, up to your knowledge, nothing has transpired between the two. Taehyung has no idea that the man in front of him is madly in love with him. Jungkook has no idea whether Taehyung is even into men. But there’s a certain kind of look in Taehyung’s eyes that makes you wonder. Maybe he knows. And maybe, just maybe, he’s into Jungkook as well. A sheepish grin appears on Jungkook’s face. Like a child who got caught eating candy when he shouldn’t be.
Oh, you can’t. Can’t do this anymore.
“Caramel Latte then?” You interrupt their star struck staring competition. “I’ll grab them.” You try to walk in when Jungkook stops you.
“No, you stay. I’ll grab them.” He confirms with Taehyung one more time that he wants the same thing and disappears inside the bustling cafe, leaving an annoyed you and an awkward Taehyung standing in front of it. A moment passes in utter silence.
“So…” Then Taehyung asks slowly, making you frown immediately which fortunately he can’t see as you’re standing a few feet before him, facing the cafe. “You and Jungkook have been friends for how long?”
You hate talking with Taehyung, but among everything you could talk about, you hate talking about your and Jungkook’s friendship. Generally, you don’t like when people use friendship in the same sentence with the name Jungkook. Especially when the person who asks and talks is someone Jungkook likes. You’re probably being a sour bitch but when someone does that it feels to you like they’re rubbing the ugly truth of Jungkook never loving you in your face. Like it’s intentional. Poking at your wounds. Being smug that they have him and not you. You’re certain Ysela did that. She knew you liked her man. You can’t blame her though. You would’ve done the same. And now you can’t help but think it’s exactly what Taehyung is doing. You’d prefer to completely ignore him and mind your own business but he takes a step closer to you, making your spine go rigid. You can practically taste his presence behind you. Surely you just can’t ignore it.
“For way too long.” You mumble without turning to look at him. He, however, just walks beside you and offers you a smile.
“Yeah? Like four years? Five years?” Keeps inquiring. That makes you snort. “What?” Taehyung gasps. He seems like he’s a bit offended but the glint in his eyes says he’s just pretending.
“I’ve known him ever since I was a kid.” You explain, finding no other way out of this than making small talk with him.
“Wow! That’s cool.” Taehyung’s lips stretch into a perfect box, making you bristle with unpleasant jealousy. You can’t match that beauty now, can you? Of course, you can’t. You shouldn’t even be bothered. But you are. You don’t like the fact that he seems very pleased. As if you being only a friend to Jungkook is somehow appealing to him.
“Why?” You ask just because there’s nothing else to say.
“I don’t know.” Taehyung shrugs. “It’s cool that you have a friend that stayed with you for so long.”
Yeah, right?
Swallowing down your bitter thoughts, you glance back at the cafe. It’s been a few minutes since Jungkook went inside. Not long enough for you to get agitated and go see what happened to your sweet coffee, though you want to escape the infuriating, demanding presence next to you.
“What the hell is taking so long?” You mutter as an excuse and almost take a step forward to walk away when Taehyung beats you to it.
“I’ll go check.” He doesn’t let you protest before he hurries inside the cafe, finally leaving you alone to wallow in your misery. You drag in a deep breath, reminding yourself that you still prefer to have Jungkook at least as your friend than losing him for good. If you are going to be a bitch to Taehyung, then that’ll be how this might end. You’ll lose Jungkook forever. No. That’s too cruel. You can’t lose him. No. No way. You have to pretend to be a good friend who’s supportive.
You need to get your shit together.
You did this before, so why not now?
With a determined nod to yourself, you look for your phone inside your bag just to give up on it when you hear Jungkook’s laugh as they both walk out. You raise your head to find Taehyung holding the door to Jungkook even though he is the one has two coffee cups in his hand, one tucked between his chest and forearm. Jungkook mouths a ‘thank you’ to him before Taehyung follows Jungkook. They both walk to you, those annoyingly beautiful smiles still plastered to their faces. Taehyung takes both coffee cups in his two hands as he walks over to you and hands one over to you. Despite all your determination, you frown at it.
Why couldn’t Jungkook do it? He could’ve brought you your coffee.
God, aren’t you pathetic? Just take the coffee. It’s just coffee. But you don’t get why he’s nice to you.
“Thank You.” You take the coffee from his hand, muttering. Taehyung gives you that same beautiful smile before taking a sniff of his own coffee. As if it could be something suspicious. You fight the urge to roll your eyes as he blows on the hot content and takes a careful sip, grimacing immediately.
“It’s bitter.” He sticks his tongue out. Jungkook snorts yet his eyes hold those stars.
“Duh!” He exclaims. “It’s coffee.”
“I don’t like coffee.” Taehyung nods, coming to a decision. Dramatic. Stupid. Jungkook’s giggle, which is almost like a teenage schoolgirl's, rings around as he wraps his arm around Taehyung’s shoulder.
“Then we will drink hot chocolate for the rest of our lives.” He says casually, draping his other hand in which he’s holding the coffee cup, around your shoulders, making you panic that he’ll spill the coffee all over you. He doesn’t. Instead he starts pulling both you and Taehyung back into walking. Heat spreads across your body. You know his arm around your shoulders is nothing but casual. Nothing like the one he has on Taehyung. But your poor, traitorous heart seems not to mind. The heat almost becomes unbearable, even your neck starts itching. You curse yourself in your mind for being this pathetic.
“Maybe we should hang out sometimes.” Taehyung offers, still sipping his coffee despite his great dislike. Grimacing with every sip. Torturing himself as if he’s obliged to finish the drink. “I mean, besides study sessions and gym.” Adds.
Oh, hell no!
“Fuck yes!” Jungkook bellows, this time managing to spill his coffee a bit in his overenthusiasm. You throw him a glare, which he doesn’t notice as his complete attention is on Taehyung. “We make such a good trio, don’t we?” He squeezes both of you.
You don’t think so. You hate this.
But Jungkook looks adorable. You don’t think you saw him this happy ever since Ysela. He deserves to be happy. Even though it means you’re miserable.
You smile at him softly, taking a sneaky glance at Taehyung over him to find Taehyung already looking at you. His boxy smile is still present on his awfully handsome face.
And you think you see a glint in his eyes.
