Summary:
Given everything, it was actually surprising no-one had foreseen it or something like it.
Like, in hindsight? It was really obvious something like that would be likely to happen.
As it were, the day Tim surprised Kon with a newly-purchased apartment and a request to move in with him and, immediately upon saying yes, Kon developed a fever, well.
I completely forgot I wrote the first draft of Heliotropism in Buck's POV
Sharing below if anyone wants to read ^_^ (it's rough and incomplete)
Sunlight streams in the window, casting a golden glow over the bathroom and falling softly on Tommy's face—over his cheeks and eyelashes.
Tommy's eyes are closed, so Buck soaks up the opportunity to admire him unguarded and up close as he rubs aftershave onto his face—his cheeks, jawline, chin, and neck—in slow sweeping motions.
When they were together, Buck didn't get the chance enough—Tommy was almost always awake before him, and if they were awake, they were almost always eating or fucking or talking or going on dates (or some combination of those things).
As much as Tommy's words stung, as much as they didn't show the whole picture, being with Tommy had felt new and exciting—the whole time they were together. And in that newness, that excitement, there hadn't been much room left for quiet, contemplative moments.
Now Buck finds himself missing something he never really had.
Buck sweeps across Tommy's jawline one last time. "All good."
Tommy opens his eyes and smiles at Buck. "Thank you, Evan."
Buck shivers. He can blame it on being shirtless. "Yeah. You're welcome." He turns to the sink and washes his hands. He turns back to Tommy who's expecting his face in the mirror. "So how'd I do?"
Tommy holds up his right hand, showing off his brace. "Much better than I could have."
Buck scoffs. "That's not saying much."
"You did great. I appreciate you doing this for me."
"I know it's not as grand as stealing a helicopter, but I'm glad you asked. It feels good to do something for you for a change."
A wary expression passes over Tommy's face. "It isn't always easy for me to ask for help."
"I hadn't noticed."
Tommy winces. "I'm sorry."
Buck shakes his head. "No, Tommy. I mean that—I didn't notice when we were together. You always show up when someone asks—no questions asked, no hesitation, no judgment. I guess I always just assumed you would say if you needed someone to do the same. I'm sorry, Tommy. You deserve to have someone to pick up your calls too, to show up for you."
A small smile tugs at Tommy's lips.
"And thank you. For trusting me with this."
"It was just a shave."
Buck purses his lips. "Yeah okay, it was just a very sharp straight razor on the delicate skin of your face and neck."
Tommy tilts his head. "Tomato, to-mah-to."
Buck rubs the back of his neck. "I—uh—didn't realize how…intimate it would feel."
Tommy sweeps his gaze over Buck and smirks. "Yeah, well I'm not sure what wikihow article said it was necessary to have your tits out—"
Buck laughs—too loud and sharp for the small space, but unable to contain it. But as quick as it had come on, the bubbly feeling leaves him.
Tommy's smile wanes. "Hey, are you okay?"
"It feels like that was the first time I've laughed since"—he shakes his head—"but that can't be…right?" His voice cracks on the last word.
"Oh, sweetheart."
Tommy reaches for him and in the same breath has Buck in his lap. He's not sure it's what Tommy had intended, but he takes Buck's weight like he always has—steady and sure.
Tommy holds him close as Buck trembles in his arms, rubbing his back and murmuring in his ear. "I've got you."
They stay like that until Buck stops shaking.
Tommy nuzzles Buck's cheek and gently kisses his jawline. "Take your time. I'm not going anywhere."
It brings Buck back to the present moment with a loud exhale. He sits up and rubs at his eyes even though they're dry. "Thank you."
Tommy runs his hands up and down Buck's sides. "Of course."
The biggest shoutout there ever could be to the most wonderful, skilled, talented, practically-perfect-in-every-way @plasticarton , who drew this beyond spectacular Christmastime family photo for my utterly wonderful babies; for the uninitiated, my OC Millie on the left, Jack from Something’s Wrong With Sunny Day Jack (a erogenous otome for ADULTS ONLY,) and my OC Maddie in the loving care of them both!!! You can see all of them in action in heliotropism ( https://archiveofourown.org/works/56544796 ), as well as in a Christmas fic coming very soon to an Internet near you 😉
From the aforementioned close friend of mine, from the entire Kendall family (Millie and Maddie’s last name!), and of course from the excitable, gushy, hot-mess-express mun typing this, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Joyous Yule, Happy Solistice, Happy Holidays, and particularly festive Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday. This fandom and these communities mean more to me than even a writer who loves to yap can say, and I’m very blessed to be able to share in the divinity of passionate creation and unabashed love 💖💖💖🎄🎄🎄🥹🥹🥹🩷💙💛

Summary: Kryptonian biology means Clark Kent, 28, unexpectedly presents as something called an omega - a secondary gender, something humans don’t posses and Clark had no idea was even a thing.
The fact that all this is only happening because his body decided Bruce Wayne, Clark’s longtime crush, was the ideal mate was just the cherry on top on the sundae of bizarre, life-changing surprises that was his life.
Sunflowers are called sunflowers because they turn to follow the sun as it travels across the sky. When the flower matures and starts to set seed, this stops and the flowers point due east for the rest of their lives. By turning this way, the sunflower dries out the dew on it’s flowerhead quicker in the morning and this attracts more pollinators. At night it goes into reverse and turns back to greet the sunrise. If you grow a sunflower in a pot and try to trick it by turning the pot 180 degrees, it will carry on regardless, only re-coordinating with the sun after several days facing the wrong way. If you cut the flower off, the stem will continue to rotate but if you cut all the mature leaves off the rotation stops. When the new leaves reach maturity, the rotation starts again. How does all this work?
First of all, the rotation of the flower is easy to explain; the shady side of the stem below the flower grows faster than the illuminated side. This process is reversed at night Sunflowers only respond to blue light and if you put them under a red light they stop turning. The receptors in the leaves were discovered in the 1990′s (they’re called phototropins) and they only occur in mature leaves. That’s how sunflowers know where the sun is in the sky.
When the original shoot went sideways (literally and figuratively), a new shoot became the dominant stem. Hinging is a woodland habitat development technique.
