It has probably been said but if you want to keep warm: shut the blinds and close the curtains as soon as light starts dimming to conserve heat that got trapped during the day.

And I know it is counterintuitive but don't forget to air your house/flat - esp if you are lucky enough to have a bit of sun.

Also, going for layers is fine but avoid tight clothing. Loose clothing traps air between the layers and insulates you further.
