..........March 16 is a long ways away....
So, due to the unexpected (I didn't expect it at least because I don't always look ahead at episode dates on IMDb) suddenness of the return of hellaitus, and that we'll have 3 full Wednesday's before we're back at it, I'm so taking advantage of the fact that I have the past 5 eps recorded on DVR and I am going to rewatch them on the next three Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Because it's gonna feel really wrong without SPN to wait for so, yeah. Don't judge me
Hellaitus
(n.) The time when Supernatural is on hiatus.
The Supernatural fandom is so loud that all of Tumblr knows when hellaitus is starting.

Right, where were we?
Okay. Hellatus has gone on long enough. We've been teased and tortured beyond what any human fan could reasonably be expected to bear with clips and interviews hinting at what's to come. And yet we are still a month away from any sort of real content. So as last night bled into this morning I came up with a little story of my own. A form of release from that wicked cliffhanger of an ending to Season 9. I'll share it with you, because I'm nice like that. I hope you can find some catharsis in it. We'll make it. It won't be fun, but we'll make it.
Disclaimer: I did write this in the wee hours. Forgive me for terrible rock references and sorry one-liners. Also, as far as factual accuracy goes...well, there might be some, but no promises. Also, the following may contain spoilers. Which should be a given but I don't want my head chewed off.

Sam hurled the smouldering summoning bowl at the ground and barely registered the bloody herbs that splattered at his feet. He stalked back to the room where he’d laid down his brother and froze in the doorway.
The bed was empty. Blood rushed in Sam’s ears as his eyes swept the dim, musty room. Nothing hid in the dark recesses; he was alone. He turned - stumbling slightly - and ran the length of the hallway that led into the cavernous main room of the bunker. Everything looked normal; the tabletop glowed faintly, its map partially obscured by the books left haphazardly on it, and lights blinked away steadily on the various consoles that lined the far wall. Sam braced himself against a stone pillar and listened closely for any indication that he had company; beyond the hum of the archaic machinery there was nothing, no one, there to make a sound. He ran a distracted hand through his hair and winced as it caught roughly. Dried blood - his brother’s - matted his hair together in a thick clump.
Through the silence Sam became aware of a war going on inside his head. A part of him was shouting for action, for a plan to be formulated, for the necessary thing to be done. Another part of him, a quieter, more exhausted part, begged for a break, for oblivion; asked whether enough wasn’t enough. The ache in his chest and in his head seemed to side with the second part and he realized perhaps his own physical limitations would dictate his next move.
And so, despite the keening voice that urged him otherwise, he plodded back to that most empty room, lay down heavily on the mattress most recently occupied by his dead brother, and fell immediately unconscious.

When Sam awoke some unknown hours later, there was no blissful moment of forgetfulness; no feeling of waking as though from a bad dream only to realize the nightmare was real. Between Jess, his father, Bobby... grief no longer had the ability to surprise him any more. He felt Dean’s absence like a tangible loss, the way he might feel if he woke without an arm. Denial would not help bring his brother back. But there was no chance he was going to accept Dean’s absence - not again. Sam would get him back - dead or alive, come hell or high water, he would get his brother back.

Dean flexed his right arm and tightened his grip on the Blade, reveling in the way his muscles responded. He had felt the Blade’s power before, but now it was as though the juice came from within himself, and the Blade was merely an extension of his own strength. He cast his eyes - and oh, how he could see so much clearer with those eyes - around the room, which appeared to be an abandoned warehouse, before finally drawing them forward to meet the demon’s standing before him. He almost laughed at the expression he saw there; a mixture of fear, bemusement and yes - a little bit of hope. There would be no sardonic “Hello, Boy,” this time; Crowley was waiting for Dean’s response, and Dean wanted to make it a good one.
“I’m not going to call you Dad, if that’s what you were thinking,”
Crowley’s shoulders relaxed visibly, until Dean raised his right arm and they shot right back up again. Dean laughed, brought the Blade over his head and used it to scratch the back of his neck. “Relax, man. I’d have killed you by now if I were going to.”
“I see we haven’t lost the finer points of your personality,” Crowley growled, his annoyance at being mocked overcoming his wariness. “How,” he asked, his voice lowering, “do you feel?”
“Honestly?” Dean transferred his weight between his feet a couple of times, rolled his shoulders, shrugged. “I feel great. Better than great. I feel alive, and powerful, and like all the shit that meant so friggin’ much the past couple months doesn’t matter anymore. As for you - I still think you’re a dickbag, but again, I don’t really care.”
“Touching stuff, really. So, what do you want to do with all that freedom?”
A grin stretched across Dean’s face. “I wanna raise a little hell.”
