🕯️ \ WELCOME TO CAMP HOLLOW’S RIVER — FIRST DAY NOTES FOR COUNSELORS :
🪵 arrival log • bonding bonfire • bag inventory • staff expectations 🪵
if you're reading this, congratulations — you made it to camp hollow’s river in one piece. whether you showed up early with the birdsong or stumbled off the bus five minutes ago with pillow lines still on your cheek, we’re glad you found your way down the gravel road.
most counselors arrived around 5PM today — either by the staff bus (yes, the one with the flickering overhead light) or by getting dropped off by someone suspiciously eager to drive away. upon arrival, each counselor was greeted by the colonel, who offered a firm handshake, a look that lingered too long, and a canvas duffel bag labeled with your name.
*🧳 \ YOUR BAG CONTAINS:
• one (1) oversized t-shirt with the camp’s logo — your official uniform. we know you’ll just sleep in it.
• one (1) flashlight — you’re gonna need this.
• one (1) walkie-talkie — channel 6 only. the others are … not for us.
• five (5) spare batteries — they never last as long as you want.
• one (1) compact first aid kit — don’t open it unless you mean it.
• one (1) camp map — note: a heart is drawn right over the second bonfire site. cute, right?
the colonel pointed you toward your cabin (don’t mind the moss or the smell of mothballs — they grow on you), and reminded everyone to meet by the bonfire after nightfall for our first group gathering. oh, what happens at the bonfire? well, that’s where you’ll meet your fellow counselors, swap a few names, roast a marshmallow or two, and answer a few … odd questions. bonding, you know? nothing brings people together like shared suspicion and open flame.
so take this first night to settle in, flip through your map, test your walkie-talkie, and try not to scream if your flashlight flickers too much — the forest loves a good entrance. see you at the bonfire, counselor.
writers, welcome to your first night at camp hollow’s river! to celebrate our in-character opening, we’re hosting an ask meme week, set at our first bonfire meeting. for the next week and a half, you’re invited to :
🔥 send and answer ask meme questions as if they’re being asked in character, right there around the fire!
– click here to meet your questions & how this will work. also, interpret them how you’d like — a conversation? a confrontation? an awkward silence? it’s all fair game.
🔥 write threads and starters ( and maybe some self paras? you’re free! go wild! ) :
– roasting marshmallows, getting the flashlight in your eyes, spilling secrets, or … spotting something in the trees.
– go feral with your own ideas — near the fire or not, explore more of staff week ( tba!!! ).
you’ve got 1.5 weeks ( sunday-10 to thursday-21 ) to throw questions into the flames, answer ‘em, and play out the first spark of camp-wide chaos. this is your counselors’ first real chance to meet, mingle, and make a few mistakes. just remember : the forest’s never quiet for long. and someone’s always listening.
look, i don’t make the rules. our rite of passage is simple : be at the second bonfire by two a.m sharp, bring a possession of yours and… burn it.
yeah, you gotta throw that shit on the bonfire and say hasta la vista, baby ! choose carefully. you don’t have to explain why you chose this or that, but it has to be yours, and it needs to have a value. give something so you can get something back — oh, what you will gain, you might ask? i don’t know, a blessing? a permit? it’s just… those who didn’t do this had some regrets later, ok? and maybe you heard of them; the cowards and their consequences, the whispers, the nightmares, ugh, anyway, i’m just the messenger, man. i’m giving you a heads up, but the choice, as always, is ultimately yours. don’t tire yourself out, counselor. we still have much to live in here.
𝐨𝐨𝐜 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨 :
hello, dearests! this is our first little… task? and activity check! we will create a channel on our discord for you, counselor, to post about your burnings, and we'll give until monday ( day 21, 7 pm – est ) for you to conquer this rite of passage. oh, a rapid fire ain’t enough for you? no problemo, friendo ! those who wish to yap about their burning can post a self para with the hashtag #hella.ritual !!!
we hope to be fed by delicious paragraphs, words and sacrifices. see you at the bonfire!
🔦 welcome, everybody !!! how was the trip ? did you enjoy the looooong and green view ? oh, man, how can i express how thankful i am ? this summer would not be possible without y’all. all of our staff is here … or, mmm, almost. like, half ? anyways, most of you guys are here! so get comfortable, unpack, rest your travelers legs, because we got work to do. counselors, come with me !
... okay, counselors, it’s just us right now. glad to meet each and everyone of you! take this little bag with your essentials. i will run to my office now, and you guys can… figure it out how the walkie-talkie works. see you soon!
your bag contains : one large t-shirt with the camp’s logo — it’s your uniform, but you probably only wear it to sleep + one flashlight + one walkie-talkie + five batteries + one small first aid kit + the camp’s map — with a heart drawing right on top of the second bonfire.
you turn the map’s page around, just to find one single word : behind. you look behind you, but there’s nothing there — nothing but trees and a vacant space. you are ready to ask the group if anyone else got a message, when another counselor says : hey, guys, what does ‘head’ written behind a map means?
soon, everybody turns the map and finds a word, and another and another, until…
it takes more than five minutes for the puzzle to be completed, and the feeling is… weird. a joke? a challenge? a request? silence is heavy, and you think about breaking it, but your walkie-talkie does it first.
hey? hello? is this thing on? pay attention, counselors… i’m about to name some needed and valuable rites of passage for you. first time here? nice, newbie, do them properly. a veteran? help your pupils to enjoy their time and avoid any risks. so, let’s start with…
visit our bridge and… enjoy your skinny dipping moment! no need to shout anything or scream your lungs out, but many do because it’s fun and very freeing.
offer condolences to the shy memorial we have at the third bonfire. we honor those who didn’t survive and we wish their spirits a safe travel to… wherever they need to go.
meet the rock’s secret again and see if any of your artistic creations are still part of it. most drawings and signatures fade through time but those who remain can be a sign of good luck.
secure a bike back at the main building, keep it with you and try to see if there's any locks available to avoid a future made-to-be thief.
enjoy. seriously. the kids will arrive soon, but, for now, the camp is all yours. i know, i know, we have training later this week and, well, you really think i’d forget? our bonfire ritual is still very much on, okay? … is it weird to call it like that? anyway, i will explain about it later, i promise. for now, enjoy and think about this little rhyme :
something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence in your shoe.
got it? no? okay, it will come to you! oh, i talked lots already, didn’t i? should i have started this with your accommodations details? oopsie! anyways, i’ll do that now and then, please, i need to hear from you, okay? let’s start with…
dearests, WE ARE OPEN !!! you can continue this on our discord! our walkie-talkie channel is finally oooooopen for business! and our colonel will need to hear from you — walkie-talkie test, ya know? you do want to make sure this thing is working right now and not when you need it the most. anyways, have fun! enjoy this night and so on. thank you for being here and giving this place a chance! and stay tuned for news about our (first) group ritual.
𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿, 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿. was it worth waiting for ? did you pack your knives ? can you hear the sound of our chainsaw ? hell yeah ! our discord is now part of our pinned post & members can come closer. oh, anxious to meet your neighbours ? you can always follow them ( and our tags ) around :
