Home? A place where I can go
“Aaaand there, that should hold until next period.”
The nurse told us, putting away her tool kit. “Though, admittedly it should last longer thanks to the prosthetic.” She says, passing the mask back, with Tom snatching it and putting on immediately.
“…. S-sorry, miss.” He mumbles, still holding onto my hand just as tightly as when he got hit. “It’s quite alright, not the worse that’s happened.”
She says, sitting down across from the two. “Although I recommend seeing a doctor in case it might be an actual problem and some counseling.”
“C-counseling?” Tom mutters out, a bit louder than before.
“Indeed, after that hit, your friend said you were unresponsive and your eyes were darting.” She informed, staring back at Tom with a worried expression.
“And that you were breathing erratically and flinched violently when someone you don’t know tried to help you up.” The nurse adds, taking off her glasses.
“It’s a bad trauma response, something no one should deal with… but it happens, there are some adults that shouldn’t be parents and students who aren’t supposed to do harm onto others.” She includes.
I turned to Tom, who had shrunk away from the nurse and closer to me, hand still tightly grasped.
“I still recommend counseling, I’ll tell the principal that he’ll be expecting you and he’ll talk about redoing your schedule.” She notes, writing a slip for Tom and passed the pink coloured paper towards Tom.
“Just Mrs. M is fine, see you boys later when you need to.” She waves them off, already going back to what she’s doing while me and Tom got out of her office.
We both didn’t say a word, Tom slowly but steadily let go once he felt calm enough. “You ok?” I ask, placing my hand on his shoulder. “Um… I’m not sure.” He told me, unsure but willing. “We-… we missed so many classes.”
“Yeah, we did.” I shrugged, turning my head fully towards the dark brunette. “But health matters, physically, emotionally and mentally.” I told him, standing in front of him before we continue onwards.
“Mental and physical health are very important, more important than classes and getting a good grade.” I placed my hand on his shoulder.
“If there ever is a teacher or a student who says otherwise, they are wrong, don’t listen to them.” I added, waiting his eyes dart and express so many emotions in one go in seconds before settling onto acceptance.
“.. can-… can I be in the same classes as you?” He asks me, I smiled and handed back his note book and assignment book he dropped.
“Sure, are any classes you don’t like?” I ask him.
“Religion, the other classes are more so because of my leg.” He answers, pointing to his left leg.
“That’s fair, science is a bit of an anxiety attack waiting to happen for me.” I admit, watching his eyes go wide and possibly furrow.
“Really? You look so… self actualised.” He gestures, bewildered.
“I dealt with it a lot almost my life when I turned 10, plus with chronic night terrors.”
And we both talked the rest of the reminder of classes we missed… mostly because both were about to be picked up with me on a scheduled time while Tom’s is more of an emergency pick up.
My first few days in this town and… surprisingly I feel like I’m home despite moving a lot in my life with my family.
I got myself three new friends, though I’m a bit worried about Tom. The look on his face was of petrified fear and terror… I’ve never seen anybody that looked more terrified in my life and I watched and read a lot of horror.
… I wonder what happened to him before mr Edwards.
Phew… finally got back into this again.
Sorry for the wait, as you all saw, I got very busy on the transformers side cavern as well as… life in general-. *cough* however!
In two weeks time, maybe less if we’re hopeful, the internet connection might get back on track and not be as unstable as it is currently! So that’s good.
