When I'm in a cliffhanger competition and my opponent is Kuyu
Good day! I have some thoughts, and I hope this will be a canon
Chapter 945
"I didn't say that to make you apologize. You know better than anyone that I haven't even properly visited the grave of my son, daughter-in-law, or grandson. I'm a bad mother, a bad mother-in-law, and a bad grandmother."
There was also a mention that their graves are on the mountain.
Chapter 1171
Kishiaar's eyes spoke. That the "accident of twenty years ago" was the incident they had just heard from the old lady at the grocery store."Hellam was the chief wizard before I was born. Her husband and children were also wizards. His daughter became the current chief adjutant, Maga, and his son is gaining a great reputation as a research wizard at the Pearl Tower, following in his parents' footsteps. Even more than half of his grandchildren are wizards, so he could certainly be considered a large family of wizards. It was a long time ago that Hellm, who was the head of such a family, unexpectedly retired. This was after a tragic incident. Hellm originally had a daughter and two sons. In addition to the son who was researching in the Pearl Tower, there was another son. He was also a wizard, and as a talented researcher like his mother and brother, he enrolled in the Imperial Institute of Magical Research.
Yes. He went on a business trip to the mountain to explore for several years, taking his wife, who worked at the same Institute of Magical Research, and his newborn son with him. He died in an unexpected car accident. It was an accident caused by suddenly appearing monsters, although it was not his time. I heard that there was a lot of commotion among the wizards, as the entire research team of wizards who were there and the village where they were staying were all killed."
Am I the only one who sees a hint that Hellam might be Yudere's grandmother?
not at all dear anon! most of us who are up to date pretty much are thinking this is canon hahaha
Thais is more on the research side of sorcery and doesn't have much in terms of power. However, it's interesting that from the very start he has always "sensed" something about Yuder. At first you think he's simply impressed by his confidence against a Count in broad daylight, but then he casually reveals that what he's interested in is his power.
He talks one-on-one with Alik about wanting to watch Yuder closely. He wants to outright study the man.
I presume that it's because even though Thais isn't necessarily a mage with powerful magic, he's still very in tune to magical energies. By the time Thais meets Yuder, he has come in contact with the Red Stone and is on his way to becoming a living medium. They later observed that magic and Red Stone energy can reach an equilibrium, as if they complement each other, as long as enough magic can be sustained to meet the level of that energy.
However, the topic of Yuder perhaps having an aptitude for magic comes up relatively early, when he's at the Western Mage Union base and Lorna brings it up. Yuder denies having ever taken a magic aptitude test, but what if his body was once suited for it? (Spoilers up through ch.1171 beyond this point)
I'm just on a meta run today so more thoughts on the political situation in Orr! I'm going to elaborate on this in my big meta essay someday but for now...
So, when Thais Yulman and Alik come to visit the Cavalry, Yuder makes the following observations:
Yuder had seen in his previous life how sensitive the court mages were to power. It was only natural since those who wanted to gain power rather than improving their magic skills often became court mages. On the surface, they professed loyalty to the emperor alone, but behind the scenes, they colluded with various nobles and engaged in dirty dealings. (64)
This is rather interesting as the two institutions the imperial power in the capital is based on are the Court Mages and the Imperial Knights. Of course we also have the Southern and Northern Army, but they are also filled with commoners, manpower for open conflict, not particularly for the intrigues of court. While the corrent Commander of the Imperial Knights is on good terms with, at the very least Kishiar, several of his subordinates are not subserviant to that - Kiolle being our best example, and how the Cavalry in general receives harsh treatment from them.
