My opinion regarding having a religion is quite simple: if it doesn't bring me comfort and if I can't have fun with it, then it's not worth having.
And again, we bid farewell to our lady of flowers and goddess of spring, sending fair wishes her way as she returns to her place in the Underworld to reunite with her husband and her throne. Happy autumn equinox and blessed koris katagogi! 🍁🍂
Also, happy Mid Autumn Festival to me! 🥮🎑
Honest opinion time:
I don't think it's fair or reasonable for us to expect the gods to be present and be here for us constantly and all the time.
We all need breaks. There are times for all of us, when we need to step back, get away, and maybe even disappear for a while. It happens to us all, when for personal reasons, we simply can't be there for others as much. That doesn't mean we abandon the people in our lives. And those who deserve to remain in our lives, understand that. Things happen. Life happens.
Everybody gets overwhelmed from time to time. Everybody needs to rest and recuperate. Gods, too. They may be divine, powerful, immortal, and eternal, but they are not machines. If things become too much for them, they have the right to retreat, too.
It doesn't mean they won't be back, if they just need some time. If they feel like they need to take a breather from anything, they certainly deserve to.
Remember kharis? It's mutual, reciprocal, a two way street. It doesn't mean codependency. If we expect the gods to understand us and cut us slacks, well, we need to do the same for them. We don't owe the gods worship, and the gods don't owe us anything.
On this blog, we love and honor Allfather Zeus and Allmother Hera. 👑
Me: *buys more books* "It's a devotional act, ok? It makes Athena very happy!" 📚
The gods are going to do what they want. They will do things as they see fit.
They are gods. They are out of our hands. They are beyond us to worry about. We are mortals.
They've been around for a while. They know what they're doing.
My note to self: as a religious person, don't make a drinking game out of every time you see some witch's post on social media that makes you go "that's not how things work with gods".
