Died April 1st, 1977 (age 74)
Worked as a sharecropper for most of his life before his 40s
Met his wife Henrietta as a child. She pet-named him “Husker” after his strength.
A smooth talker in life.
Had 5 children in life (Mary, Henrietta Jr., Michael, Jonah, and Isaiah)
Did scammy roadside card tricks on the side.
Wasn’t conscripted for WW1, but was drafted in WW2 when he was 39.
Sent home 14 months later due to shell shock and a shot hip.
Believed himself to be a coward upon coming home.
Picked up binge drinking and gambline
Is a nasty drunk, got into arguments with Henrietta and yelled a lot.
Gambled away lots of his household money.
Henrietta ended up leaving Lafayette when he was 48, and his children followed suit
Used his street card tricks and military pension go get by while he spent his coin on booze and gambling.
Has a bad limp, but refuses to use a cane.
Learned a variety of languages as a hobby (French, Spanish, Mandarin, Portuguese, Choctaw, and Navajo)
Presents himself as a very proud man, and doesn’t let anyone close enough to see his true feelings.
Ended up developing hepatitis and ARBD and was put into the care of his oldest child, Mary.
Mary thought of him as a rotten old man and urged him to change his ways before he died.
He ended up developing cirrhosis of the liver, and later died of liver failure.
Husker
As a sinner, Husker was blessed with great luck, and he used that to his advantage through winning people’s souls in bets and opening up a casino in his name. His hubris came back go bite him when he got on the bad side of the Radio Demon. He eventually lost his soul in a deal with Al and became his pawn. Despite his harsh demeanor, Husker sucks up to Al’s almost every whim. He was brought to Novus’ ward as a concierge by Al, although he seems to despise this position and binge drinks during the little time he has for breaks.

Im gonna make it so he learned hellish (the language that many hellborn as well as older sinners speak, kinda like a Hell Esperanto typa thing) shortly after he died.
Fun fact! The imp lady you can see him with in the pic still works at the casino, although she is much older now (she’s the stout yellow one in the image below ^^)

Sherri died due to a car bomb in the 1980s in Scotland
Bakhtiar died from drowning in the 1590s in Gujarat (during the mughal empire)
Sherri is a hedonistic thrill-seeker who has a penchant for fire and explosives
Bakhtiar is a researcher who spent the better part of their afterlife researching hell’s biosphere and the regeneration qualities of sinners

Introducing… Angel Dust, the First Client!

Was a part of the mob (along with his male family members)
Well-liked among the working-class of his community
His parent’s favorite, and kinda like a mini-me for the both of them
Dropped out of school at 14 to work under his dad
Developed an amphetamine addiction as his mother encouraged him to do uppers with her
Good-looking, charming, flirty, and friendly fellow
His brother eventually found letter exchanges between him and a male lover, and subsequently outed him to their parents. This caused them to kick him out and ostracize him.
After being kicked out, Andy went on a long bender to try and drown out his problems with speed and booze, ending in his death of an overdose.
Angel Dust
After he died, Andy started offering out services like robberies, attacks, and sexual favors in exchange for alcohol and drugs
In the 1970s, he met Valentino: a washed up movie producer who was a repeat customer of his
they got high and went on benders together frequently
they ended up dating foe a while
Val eventually got in good with a leading overlord (Vox), and ended up convincing Andy for partial ownership of his soul in promise of stardom
this was a decision Andy learned to regret, as he was now tied to Val, who ended up being much worse of a person than he first led on to be, and it didn’t seem like he was planning on giving his soul back any time soon.
Andy, or his stage name Angel Dust, is currently a famous actor and sex symbol in Hell, but off the hours, he continues to sell his body for cash, booze, and drugs

Another member of the main gang done!
With canon Angel, I had a lot of gripes with how he’s portrayed. He acts and dresses like a teenager even though hes supposed to be around 120 years old, no elements of his time period and mafia connections show through in his character, and his abuse is treated for laughs! Its ridiculous.
My original redesign for him had him looking like. Well, just a fuzzy dude, so I gave him a more spider-like head.
I wanted to delve more into how a lot of mafia syndicates were well-liked and well-respected among the people of their communities, especially the working class, like a “oh yeah they help us up and give us jobs and booze, but dont double cross them” kinda thing. I wanna say Andy and his father were very well-liked among their community and many people gave him freebies like booze and smokes just outta respect for him.
His father was a second-generation immigrant from Italy, and his mother was a first-generation Sicilian immigrant.
His family dynamic was very not-healthy, as Antony was pretty much the golden child, while Maria was the scapegoat for Alcinia, and Vito was the scapegoat for their, which fostered years-long resentment and jealousy towards Andy on his part.
Andy was proud of his occupation and of his social standing, so when he was kicked out it felt like his entire world was crumbling.
Basically his entire afterlife as a sinner leading up to him joining Novus’ team was him getting/being high, as since sinners couldn’t die, there was nothing holding him back from taking as many drugs as he wanted.
I wanted his relationship with Val to have more layers, since I think it would provide better context as to why he’d be willing to stay with him for so long. They have history together.
I wanna say that in the course of the story, “season one” would have Andy completely unmotivated to take redemption seriously, but after a wakeup-call where his brother gives him a visit, he realizes he doesn’t wanna stay down in the shithole that is hell for eternity, and actually starts trying to make a change.
Introducing… Agatha, the Fallen Angel!

Fell on October 3rd, 1777
Fell due to attacking Lucia out of jealousy of Adam’s trust in her, Lucia fought back and stabbed her eye (Lucia did go too far and cut off her wings because she was also jealous of Agatha)
Lost her angelic spear when she fell, which came into the hands of Carmilla, kickstarting her black market angelic weaponry career. Agatha later replaced her spear with a non-angelic halberd.
Was a blank slate when she first fall, and sorta assimilated into the culture of the people that took her in, and learned Spanish before Hellish.
Still learning how to be/not used to being a person.
Her love borders on possession, and she is often overprotective of the things she cares about.
Prefers dressing more femininely
Overworks herself in most things she does; a perfectionist
Not used to feeling intense emotions

Agatha is another character that went thru a few iterations to get to where we are now! I originally leaned to more military-style clothing for her, but I realized i could do a lot more with her character by building a fashion sense outside of that…
My main gripe about canon Vaggi is that 1. She doesn’t have any character outside of Charlie, and 2. She isn’t allowed to be a bad person? Like what do you mean she was cast out of heaven for being merciful to a child??? HEAVEN? THE GOOD PLACE TO GO??
I want to show that even these angels have their flaws, and especially if you get emotions involved. (Both Agatha and Lucia (Lute) were jealous of each other; Agatha was jealous of Adam’s trust in Lucia, and Lucia was jealous of Agatha’s position as second-in-command)
I wanna say that Agatha and Novus have a relationship develop later on in the story, beginning with their shared devotion to redemption (even though Agatha’s POV starts as a more rebellious “I can get back up there! Just see me try!” Way than out of actual earnesty)
Her lack of a personality outside of the things she cares about could be an actual written flaw in her character, and not just a bad writing decision. I wanna have some of the other characters break her out of her shell and teach her how to enjoy life.

Here she is! The queen herself! She went thru a few iterations before i got to this one here, but I kept most of her traits consistent throughout.
One of my least favorite aspects bout canon Charlie is how egregiously NAIVE she is! Shes supposed to be a princess, yet any hint of responsibility and shes already ugly crying on the floor, honestly, its just sad.
I wanted to give Novus a more mature vibe about her, especially in her design. I wanted to hint at how she is MUCH older than she first leads on (like making her clothes be from the byzantine empire)
There is a lot of fanfare around her birth in my version of Hell: it caused 80% of the sinner population to be wiped out by Annihilator angels (my version of exorcists) because of Lucifer’s disappearance, and it became an imp and hellhound holiday, as it caused them to stage revolutions against the higher-ranked demons they were forced to work under.
Anyways, i really hope yall like her, as she’s become one of my favorite characters in my rewrite(cant say the same about canon charlie tho…)!
Introducing… Niffty, the Maid!

Parents were Japanese immigrants fleeing Japan’s totalitarian government
Parents wanted to assimilate into the US, so they gave Nancy a white name.
Her whole life, Nancy was controlled by her parents sho put her on strict diets and beauty regiments, preparing her to be a perfect American housewife
Compulsively cleans everything
Nancy was a problem child, and she had intense mood swings and emotional outbursts, leading to her parents sending her to a “loony bin” in her early teens.
When she was released at 17, she was put onto heavy narcotics to stabilize her mood.
Her parents set up a marriage between her and a family friend’s son when she was freshly out of the psych ward, believing a domestic life would do her some good.
Her husband was… okay. He wasn’t home a lot.
She eventually became enamored with her next door neighbor, who was a greaser with a motorcycle. She admired his freedom in life.
She became obsessed with him, stalking him and looking through his windows, keying his car, etc.
It all came to a halt one night when she tried to break into his house, only to be met with a shotgun shell to the torso, killing her.
Niffty
After she died, Niffty began seeking out romance in “bad boys”, although her selections in Hell ended up being much worse than a stereotypical greaser.
She chased the thrill of being an accomplice to a criminal partner, but ended up having to escape many abusive relationships with these men.
Before joining Novus’ team, Niffty had to leave another dangerous man, but this time, she had to take more drastic measures.
To make sure her lover wouldn’t catch her leaving, she poisoned him, which left him incapacitated for a while.
Niffty eventually took asylum in Novus’ ward, offering to be of help as a cleaning lady in exchange for protection.

MY SHAYLAAAAAAAA
Ahem. Niffty…. I really didn’t like how she was done in canon. I mean. Seriously..? A grown woman who acts like an “uwu goblin” child and THATS IT??? IM STARVING.
The first thing i wanted to do with her design was to make her look more like an adult. I gave her a bullet bra and made her facial proportions look more… adult, if that makes sense. She’s close to 90 years old for goodness sake!
I wanted to tone down how red her canon color palette is too, like. I still kept her colors very red-heavy, but i wanted to throw in some of that sweet-sweet nurse green, as well as making her dress black, as i felt it gave her more of a maid-like vibe.
Also. I MADE HER MORE BUGGY! you can barely tell she’s a bug in canon, so i wanted to give her ladybug wings and antennae (plus, the wings are positioned at her hips to give her a more 50’s “new look” silhouette!)
I wanted to keep her more erratic housewife behavior, but lean away from whatever the hell canon niffty was doing. So i gave her a backstory that i felt would fit with how she turned out. She spent her whole life in dogmatic domesticity, being controlled by someone else; she needs to be cracked out of that shell! Why would she want to break out of her comfort zone when its the only thing she ever knew? BOOM! The seed of a character arc.
I also wanted to give reason for her whole “Bad boy” fixation, so I made it that she literally never got a chance to live her own life, so she admires and gets infatuated with men who have that freedom and do what they want, no matter if it comes back around to hurt her in the end.
