The last of Paris
I feel like there isn’t too much to write as my last day in Paris was spent doing laundry, repacking, and taking care of some logistics for other parts of the trip. I am unbelievably exhausted and hoping Germany provides me with at least one solid nights rest.
The trip back from Scotland was so long. Steve walked me to get the bus in the morning, only we couldn’t find the exact stop from where the bus was to depart. So 3:45am found us running through streets, chasing buses that could’ve brought me to the airport. After doing this for about 20 mins and starting to contemplate the possibility of having to take a cab, we finally found the correct stop (thank goodness because who knows what kind of monster I would’ve turned into had I had to take a cab and on an empty stomach to boot). The rest of the journey was just long and I reached the apartment in Paris around 11:45.
I was finally able to sit down to dinner with my roommate, Maxine, around 9 and we shared a bottle of wine and chatted. She’s from Australia and has also resigned from her job to take a break and think about what she really wants to do. Her trip is shorter than mine and she will be meeting with her husband in a week or so, but it is an adventure nevertheless!
After a sleepless night and listening to thunderstorms from 4am on I decided to get up for a run. I would run to and from place de Bastille - roughly 2.8km from the apartment. The trip there was quick and I snapped some photos. Lost in thought, yet again, I missed a turn on the way back to the apartment and a small note of panic set in. I retraced my steps and found a map near a metro. I got back on the correct street, and even though it was in fact correct, I kept thinking to myself none of this looks familiar. I feel like that happens when you think you might be lost. Even things you know you’ve seen don’t seem right. Anyway, all was well and I made it back in about 50mins. I packed the last of my hanging laundry (I love hanging laundry to dry!), sat down for some food, and am now preparing to head to the train station.
So long Spain, France, & Scotland. Next stop Germany.
GOING TO THE MOTHER FUCKING ALPS!
