i feel like playing some castleman adventures which one do you think is the best castlevania
So You Want To Play Castlevania……
there are two types of castlevania games. there’s the metroidvanias and there’s the classicvanias. the former, as the name suggests, is centered more or less around exploring a large castle, completing objectives within it to reach the end of the game and along the way you must fight bosses in special boss rooms and also you get stats like RPGs. it’s like an rpg platformer. it is exactly that actually. then classicvanias are sorta like… slower bullet hells and demand a lot more from your reaction time and skill and you will find yourself being stuck on one level for a while with no way to grind to level up your character since it relies solely on just avoiding and whipping shit simultaneously.
WHAT I RECOMMEND FOR FIRST CLASSICVANIA:
super castlevania 4. it’s one of the more forgiving and easier classicvanias in the franchise and it allows you to whip in 8 directions. most classicvanias don’t allow this so if you move to another classicvania like the first one or number 3, you may be frustrated and turned off by the lack of this feature. if you don’t want that to happen, i suggest playing castlevania chronicles which is a port of akumajo dracula x68000 which is a remake of the original castlevania. this one allows you to whip in 6 directions (E, SE, S, SW, W). if this is still too forgiving for you, i recommend playing castlevania bloodlines which lets you whip in the following directions (NE, E, NW, W) but if this is even too forgiving for you i suggest playing castlevania the adventure rebirth on wii’s vc. if you don’t feel like spending money or hooking up your old wii, i suggest playing the japanese version of castlevania 3 (akumajo densetsu) with the english translation patch since the japanese version is slightly more fair (one of the characters you can play as throws knives instead of stabs with it). if you don’t feel like downloading the patch and installing it i recommend playing the US version of castlevania 3.
IN SHORT FOR CLASSICVANIAS:
super castlevania 4 (SNES)
castlevania chronicles (PSX)
castlevania bloodlines (GEN)
akumajo densetsu (castlevania 3 jpn [famicom])
each metroidvania plays pretty similarly to one another. castlevania symphony of the night (psx) is largely considered the ultimate metroidvania but its defining quality i feel is that in order to eat food, you have to equip it as if it’s a weapon and press the button assigned to that inventory item which is typically an attack button so let’s say you have a sword equipped in one hand and another type of sword in the other. you’d have to equip the ham in place of one of these swords, go back into the game, press the button assigned to the ham to eat it, go back to the menu, equip the sword you had previously, and fight again. if you really mind that i recommend playing castlevania portrait of ruin for the DS. if not, play SOTN if your computer can handle a PSX emulator.
