The Pruning Season
I've been trying to learn the seven types of spiritual seasons , but the one I'm focusing on today is the pruning season. It's crazy, honestly, because I didn't even know I was going through this season of pruning because of ive been dealing with immense pressure right now. And I thought I would share the message, or just what I've learned so far.
The pruning season means that its purpose is for God to remove distractions or overgrowth of our transgressions that are hindering us from our spiritual growth to promote fruitfulness. It's God's way of saying Iām making room for more fruit . It's the discipline process, not to punish us, but to purify us and mold us into the image of His Son.
John Ā 15:1 NLT
I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener.
More aspects of Pruning
Removal of Dead Weight: The pruning away of old habits, negative attitudes, or comforts that prevent spiritual growth.
Preparation for Growth: While the process seems destructive, it is designed to prepare you for a more fruitful and productive future
What the pruning season can look like can be a profound loss, like friendships, family, and opportunities. It can also show up in a way of facing intense pressure or hardships, and I believe depression, because it's hard to get out of that funk where it's just hard to wake up and handle what life throws at us. But listen closely, the gardener does not prune the weeds: He only prunes the branches that have already shown they can bear fruit.
Some things you can gain from this season might be the fruit of the spirit, and that can simply look like you can hold more and endure more of long-suffering you never had before. Another aspect can be the beauty in the holiness, you start to do more things out of genuine love for God and others.
Even good growth can eventually become a burden that prevents you from reaching your potential and creates a divided focus when you have too many āgoodā branches. You can become spread too thin to focus on the ābestā thing the Lord or life is calling you to do right now. Sometimes we settle on a good situation because it's safe, but that very comfort prevents us from stepping out into a ābestā situation that requires more trust and growth.
John 15:2
He cuts off every branch of mine that doesnāt produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.
So when we go through this process of pruning, let us ask the Lord to help us release even the good things if He says it has run its course. think of it as it's not to leave you with less but to make room for even more fruit, the process of trading for what is temporary for something more eternal and fruitful
