Tempting vestiges spiraled from their source to entice weaker prey—a near-guarantee of sustenance for the likes of powerful entities who no longer needed to expend the effort to hunt for food, though it was a trick known by a rare few, and employed by even fewer. It was curiosity more than hunger that drew this demon close, venturing to discover who, or what, would even idly draw forth such energies in the human world. It may not even be a demon, some vague voice at the back of his mind wondered, or if it was, it was concealing its presence well enough.
The adoption of a physical, human form was an unnecessary risk to take in the human world for many demons, yet still he took on a handsome young visage as he approached. Cloaked both in black fabrics and sprawling dark curls, the pallor of his skin stood out even more starkly in the low light, and framed a pair of dark eyes sharpened with focus. It was certain by then that this being before him was no simple demon at all, tinged as he was with demonic power, though the newcomer’s gait was still one of nonchalance in spite of the careful distance he maintained.
