I usually ignore one little fact, like Anderson's backstory in Angel Dust. However, you have a very promising and already cool AU, which I would consider Anderson's backstory. So the following fact worries me: in Angel Dust, Anderson has dark hair, in other works he has light hair. And just... How? Why? I'm very interested to know what you think about this.
Do you explain this to yourself in some way or do you also ignore the difference in hair color?
Ah yes, I was expecting this question eventually lol. To my knowledge, Anderson’s change in hair/eye color comes down to Hirano having to redesign the character out of revenge for never getting his Angel Dust manuscript back. However, as this is a world building endeavor, I had to think of how this would actually work logistically.
When I started my Angel Dust rewrite, I contemplated making a younger Anderson blonde + green eyed. But then I was just. No. The color palette he has in the original source material makes a lot of sense in my opinion for his character — moody, brooding, and a tall, dark, and handsome stranger. It worked.
I initially rolled some ideas around as to how Alexander went from brunette to blonde — such as dying/contacts, bleached from stress, or potentially genetic altercations. I decided that genetic alterations from the process of becoming a regenerator would make sense.
Dying/contacts implies he is still on the run or simply wanting to change his identity but Anderson is literally protected by the Vatican and goes by the same name so… yeah. Stressors causing his hair to go blonde is… fine? But it doesn’t factor in eye color. In a world where people can be regenerators AT ALL makes me think that genetic changes wouldn’t be so far out of the picture.
Heinkel’s eyes turn red now. Anderson’s can turn green.
Really though — Anderson’s color palette change isn’t covered in the scope of my rewrite. But getting his scars is ;D especially half of his glowing Glasgow smile.
I believe that Vladcard should be the shortest of all of his forms besides girly card. Mainly, it's just because I find the idea funny as hell. Plus, it's historically accurate! Vlad the Impaler would have been around 5'6".
So, in my aus and other stuff, I usually make him 5'6.
My personal order for heights would probably be
Alucard/Bondagecard at 6'8" (Ngl, I hc Anderson as 6'9/6'10).
Hey everybody! I've been busy with my new life, but some old fandom buddies are back in the fandom and I've got a fire under my ass for Hellsing! I'm going to be more active here so I hope some of you stuck around and are ready for some new content and we'll aged asks in my inbox!
Hellsing HC: Walter's Parents & the Millennium Project
Walter Dornez is the only child and only son of Rosanna and Christaan Dornez, two renowned agents of Hellsing's sister organization, The Harker Foundation.
Rosanna Seward is the youngest and only daughter of Dr. John Seward and the only Seward to pursue the family's external trade: vampire hunting and weapon crafting.
Determined, stubborn, and sociable. Known for her temper, quick tongue, and inability to sit still. Talented pianist and wild child.
Rosanna was a sister figure to Arthur and Richard, growing up close together with the other progeny of the Crew of Light generation. She and Arthur were very close and got along really well - always up to no good and eager to take up their parents mantels.
She is the first Seward to perfect the Monofilament Wires, technology developed by her father and the Hellsing Organization. She also developed the early sketches for many of Hellsing's other technologies such as different blessed bullets, armaments, and defense mechanisms.
In 1927, Rosanna was sent to Amsterdam to study with the Harker Foundation. Under the tutelage of the Harkers and their son Quincey, she became an effective vampire hunter and anti-vampire strategist.
While there, she meets Christaan Dornez.
Christiaan Dornez is the triple-life chauffeur of the Harker Foundation. Chauffeur by day, vampire hunter by night, and eavesdropper and espionage expert all the while, Christaan is a high value worker.
Gentlemanly, a man of few words, and arresting presence. A hunger for justice, righteousness, and peace at any costs - the end justifies the means.
Christaan is Dutch and from Maastricht, Netherlands. His family is very well and alive, his father is a former priest and his mother is a school teacher. He has seven brothers. From youth, he has always been a spearhead for justice and venegance, making him a dangerous character to tick off despite his cool demeanor.
Using his chauffeur front, Christaan does a great deal of espionage and spy work for the Harker Foundation on both vampiric and mortal threats.
He primarily uses sniper fire and/or handheld blades to do his vampire hunting.
He is missing two fingers: the pinky on his left hand and the ring finger on his right.
Rosanna & Christaan
Together, they made quite the effective duo of agents for the Harker Foundation. They handle a lot of the field research collection and eradication stakeouts, curtailing the vampiric threat in northern Europe.
Rosanna decides to stay in the Netherlands with Christaan and the two get married in 1929. Their son, Walter, is born in 1930. Rosanna retires back to a strategist while Christaan continues to work with the Foundation's field agents.
They raised their son in Amsterdam and with a relatively normal childhood, embracing a very traditional family structure backdropped by Monofilament Wire exposure, family history, stories of the world beyond the veil, and visits to his grandparents and their friends.
By May 1940, the invasion of the Third Reich was in full force. Christaan and Rosanna had joined the Dutch Resistance, working in resistance measures close to the Raad van Verzet (RVV) and the Harker Foundation had stayed behind to defend their country. The Foundation and Dornez family fled to Rotterdam as the situation worsened.
May 1940, the bombing of Rotterdam eventually pushed them out. The Harker Foundation splits, sending its weakest, wounded, women, and children out of the country to England in the final push. Rosanna takes 10 year-old Walter with her, leaving Christaan behind, and arrives at Hellsing's doorstep a refugee.
However, unable to fight her sense of justice or the abandonment of her husband and team, Rosanna leaves Walter a ward of Hellsing and returns to the Netherlands, smuggled back in through Foundation and Hellsing avenues.
The Millennium Project
Contact with agents Rosanna and Christaan had become weak and intermittent while Walter trained at the Hellsing Estate as both a hall boy/footman and vampire hunter prodigy.
Arthur made it a personal mission of Hellsing to retrieve the Foundation's agents.
The remainder of the Harker Foundation eventually push into Central Europe and in the process, get the first inklings of the Millennium Project and the undead workings occurring under the Third Reich and the Special Order 666. This would be the Dornez' final mission.
The two, alongside many others, manage to steal important documents exposing the procedures, locations, and means of the Millennium Project, causing a fervent manhunt chasing them back to the Netherland border. The Harker Foundation was able to relay the information back out to Hellsing but all remaining members were arrested, imprisoned, and promptly executed by the Werwolves and Millennium's operatives.
The documents and information delivered to Hellsing became the crux of their Warsaw Operations and continental Europe missions to undermine Millennium.
Their bodies were never recovered and the Harker Foundation would not return properly to the Netherlands until 1947.
I’m putting my slideshow into text post format, so buckle up! It’s history lesson time!
The “Cromwell Initiative” is most likely a reference to Oliver Cromwell, a leader of Parliament armies during the English Civil War during the 17th century. Despite being one of Britain’s most widely regarded controversial figures, he was chosen as one of the Ten Greatest Britons” in a 2002 BBC poll.
A legend surrounds Cromwell. It is said that on the eve of the Battle of Worcester, Cromwell snuck away from the camp and met the Devil in the woods. In exchange for 7 years of prosperity, he would give his soul. He died precisely seven years after.
So, who in Hellsing Cromwell contract sold his soul? Alucard to Abraham for survival, or Abraham to Alucard in exchange for a lethal weapon he could wield and monetize?
Alchemy is referenced in the content of Alucard’s characterization as well. The quote inscribed on Alucard’s coffin (in Ultimate, it is written in its original Greek language) is translated as “The Bird of Hermes is my name/ Eating my wings to make me tame.” This quote is taken from the 15th century alchemical work known as the Ripley Scroll. While George Ripley is the suspected author and artist behind the scroll, the Hermes named is a reference to Hermes Trismegistus, a philosophy figure that was the product of merging the Greek god Hermes with Thoth, the Egyptian god of knowledge and wisdom.
The quote is taken from a part of the scroll that allegedly details the way to obtain the Philosopher’s Stone, a commonly sought after target by alchemists seeking power, immortality, and enlightenment.
The Left-Hand Path, which is one part of a dichotomy opposite the Right-Hand Path, focuses more on the elevation of the self through reaching one’s own potential, while rejecting religious authority and most commonly rejecting the notion of a higher power. Laveyan Satanism, Theistic Satanism, and Luciferianism are all Left-Hand Paths. We see references to Satanism in Alucard’s gestures, both in the inverted cross commonly (and widely mistakenly) associated with Satanism, and in the positions of his hands which match those of the iconic imagery of Baphomet.
Speaking of his hands, let’s look at his gloves. Working from the outside in, we find Theban script, also known as the Witches’ Alphabet. Hirano’s Theban is poor, but we can make out enough to correct the script into what translates to “Hellsing”, “Hell’s Gate Arrested”, and “Shine Heaven Now”.
Closest to Alucard’s wrist, we see a number of 812. Knowing Hirano, this could just be a random number but I think the number refers to Gematria, a Jewish alphanumeric code that assigns numeric value to words and phrases, originally meant for the Torah. My favorite phrase I found that has a Gematric value of 812 is “Lucifer Begotten Son”, which would fall in line with the byname “Dracula” translating to “Son of the Dragon/Devil”.
And then we have the sigil, all placed within a circle. The sigil itself is reminiscent of those belonging to Goetic demons, found in the Ars Goetia, a section of “The Lesser Key of Solomon”. In the Ars Goetia, the Goetic demons images, descriptions, and sigils are displayed. For example, here is Astaroth’s sigil.
I think the way the sigil glows during the Cromwell Invocation means the sigil acts like a binding to Alucard as the sigils of the Goetic demons act to them.
The characters around the five-pointed star in Alucard’s sigil contain the alchemical symbols for Uranus and Neptune, representing the elements of Air and Water respectively, and stylized characters from other languages and cultures that represent the other three elements Fir, Earth, and Spirit.
And that’s all I can remember now, save for the references made in Stoker’s novel. I hope these are fun facts, because I have had fun picking up on them over the years.
raccoons get into the Hellsing trash and Walter has a hard time chasing them off so Alucard is sent out. at first it looks like he’s gonna chase them off, but when they don’t seem intimidated by him in the least no matter what he does, one even biting the hell out of his leg, they end up gaining his respect as warriors. now Alucard actively brings them random human food items so that they are not left with the mere scraps, as in his head, nothing with such dignity should have to resort to that. the reason the Valentine brothers came in through the front was because they tried the back, got messed up by an obscenely large group of raccoons, and figured coming back with ghouls and hitting through the front would be easier. (99% of this is a joke but i hope it helps a bit)
It's a goddamn blessing that there are no raccoons in the UK! Alucard would find them delightful. I agree, they're not afraid of him and despite staff's best efforts to keep anything edible away from them, Alucard would go out when everyone was asleep and unlock the bins and tip them over so the raccoons could get in and out without tipping off that someone was helping them. He'd just sit, drink blood, and smoke while he watched the little goblins.
