Anyone else having problems searching their own blog for either content search or tags within reblogs?

I can no longer search through my blog for reblogs that I have meticulously tagged. I understand that reblogs don’t show up in the actual Tumblr site-wide search, but it’s hosed on my own blog, even the tag search.

I wanted to see what tags I used for @lotors-saltwife ‘s Great Galra Bake Off fan art series and none of the them are showing up, when I had no problem finding them over a week ago. I use tags for semantics and consistency—because what are we animals?

The other day it seemed like the ‘internal Tumblr links will break tag search’ was fixed and now I’m wondering if that’s broken again too.

None of my reblogs that I’ve tagged with ‘#fanart’ will show up in my own blog search.

Fuck this. It’s time for Pillowfort.

TIME TO LEAVE, BUT FIRST

alright guys, I’m not happy about this, I know the exodus from tumblr was a long time coming but because there hasn’t been any good alternative and because i never anticipated shit on this scale, I didn’t do any back ups and I still have tons of stuff sitting in my likes that I need to reblog to make sure those posts get saved when I import this blog ;A;

but it has to be done, and so I’m going to do it.

I don’t even post or reblog much “adult” content (i haven’t seen any flags go up on the content I’ve posted or reblogged recently) but I do like my occasional smutty fanart and i did like discovering new content and new fandoms here and reading everyone’s tags when they reblog stuff from me. I’m SO sad that some of that is going to go, RIP

anyway, here’s what’s going to happen:

My tumblr will stay up (if it’s allowed to stay up, hahah fuck you staff) but I probably won’t be hanging around as much anymore - if pretty gifs and art are still around i’ll maybe pop in occasionally for those

Pillowfort.io is being recommended as a good alternative and I’m excited to start using it, but it’s still in development and I don’t have an account yet. I’ll update with more information once I have it

I will be transforming my old, unused Wordpress account into a backup for this blog in the meantime, and you can find/follow/reblog from me there at touchreceptors.wordpress.com 

I’ll probably start importing this weekend though, and not just yet, and that’s because

I have a fuck ton of likes I still want to reblog so I apologize profusely in advance because starting tonight your dashes are going to be flooded. I’ll try to queue stuff as much as I can but in light of the Dec 17th deadline (and since I’m going to try to import this blog before that) this is inevitable. I am so so sorry. Please feel free to unfollow if the flood bothers you (expect an influx of MDZS, Natsume, and aesthetic posts, mostly) - no hard feelings, other people are probably gonna be deleting their blogs anyway and I’m just trying to save all the content I want while I can

It seems tumblr is in its final death throes, so I have dusted off my accounts on Pillowfort and Dreamwidth. I go by nyanmarumori on those sites too. How do you back up a tumblr blog :(?

Export your blog

You can export of all of the content you’ve created for your blog, and we’ll package it up into a convenient ZIP file for you to download.

To start the process, go to your account settings on the web:Click “Settings” under the account menu at the top of the dashboard (the person silhouette).Select the blog you’d like to export on the right side of the page.

Scroll down to the “Export” section and click the “Export [blog name]” button.You’ll see a message indicating that your backup is processing.

When your blog’s content is finished collecting, the processing message will be replaced with a “Download backup” button. Click this button to download a ZIP file of your blog’s exported contents.

If you want to export the contents of more than one of your blogs, you’ll need to initiate this process separately for each blog.

Your blog export may include:A Posts folder, with an HTML file for each post.

A Media folder, with the media from your posts, plus any media you’ve uploaded (like in messaging). These files will be in the format you uploaded them in  (JPG, GIF, PNG, MP4, and so on).

A representation of your blog’s messaging conversations, in XML format.

A representation of your blog’s posts, also in XML format.

Note that your backup may take some time to process. Check back on your blog’s settings page periodically to see if it has completed.

I’ve seen “import from Tumblr” option on AO3, so if you’ve got fanfics and drabbles that you’ve only posted to Tumblr, then I strongly recommend using the export. You’ll have it if you decide to re-post them on AO3 using their Tumblr import feature.

I think you may have touched on this sometime before, but what is your opinion on underage fictional characters depicted in sexual media? This is something pretty prevalent in BL and yaoi. I never thought it was an issue, since they aren’t real, but it’s been on my mind the past few days after tumblr terminated so many artists who’ve drawn this kind of thing, and I’ve been looking for other people’s input.

The whole thing with tumblr terminating NSFW accounts was a mistake - Tumblr fucked up with their content filter database for getting rid of child pornography (as in photos of documented child abuse). Instead, the child pornography was what got through, and legal NSFW blogs were deleted instead. It had nothing to do with fandom or fictional things.

By underage, are you referring to 16/17 year olds having sex? Because this is something common in western media as well. Drama shows which are aimed at teenagers, such as Glee or Skins, have portrayed high schoolers having sex, and I honestly don’t have much of an issue with it being portrayed, at least not any more than I do with portraying fictional teens underage drinking, or smoking pot. It’s common enough that it happens in real life. Like, yes, ideally, teenagers shouldn’t do drugs or drink underage or have sex before they’re ready, but they’re going to do these sorts of things anyway, and banning fictional portrayals of that isn’t going to stop it occurring in real life.

If you’re referring to shotacon, I prefer not discussing that, as the topic tends to trigger me quite a bit.
