“You want me to what?”
He didn’t hear him right. The noise from the horn blaring outside Brian’s pried open window had obscured the words that Brian had said. He was either really stoned or ready to plead the insanity that came to oysters during the holidays. Any of those things had to be what really had happened as Sean sat down on the couch in Brian’s living room after receiving the text on his phone that Brian needed to see him.
It had been awhile since Sean had been in that apartment, it had also been awhile since he had even talked to Brian, much less had any sort of romantic intentions with him. They had drifted apart, as Sean tended to do with a lot of people. Sean didn’t try hard enough to stay and Brian didn’t try hard enough to convince him to. To Sean, Brian was just another failed attempt at a relationship, a man that he had once cared about, maybe even was starting to love, but they never had their chance to get beyond that.
They were both stubborn men, unwillingly to admit to what they really had.
“Tell me I heard you wrong. Tell me that there is another reason you wanted me here. You need money. You need someone taken care of. You need your fucking plumbing fixed, I don’t know, any of those I would be more than likely to believe.”
