It's the second day in the Ferguson battle and even though I'm on break for the rest of the week from school I wanted to say thank you to everyone who is battling for this. Everyone is being strong in this time and even the Palestinians are helping us. Don't stand for the pledge, but if you do please do the "hands up don't shoot". Thank you to all the fighters in the country
If you want to help raise awareness for Ferguson but don't have a lot of options
Try writing on your arms. I did this today, different phrases such as "HANDS UP DON'T SHOOT" and I got many questions and was able to explain what has happened to people who were ignorant beforehand. It's simple and easy, and catches people's attention.
Hey guys; I have a few questions about what I can personally do to help.
Under the cut is me asking questions about a poster for ferguson I plan to make. I feel bad bc it feels like I'm making this about me and my actions so I've put the cut here. I wish there was another tag i could think of to post this, but I want your opinions on subject matter, and where to donate any profit this might generate (which is realistically not much but the aim is to make a poster and sell it in a sort of fundraiser so I can donate bc money is helpful but I have none)
I want to help; I've started drawing a picture of Mike Brown/the ferguson riots bc I draw the things that are important to me as a reflex. I'm considering selling it and donating any profits to somewhere that helps those affected by the ferguson riots, mostly bc I don't have any money of my own to donate right now, and I think it's a way to keep people from forgetting, to keep it current.
First question; is this disrespectful?
I'm not looking to profit or gain traffic, in fact if I went ahead, I'd make an entirely separate store from my usual artistic pursuits. But if I need to sit down and shut up, please tell me.
Second; I want to show Mike Browns eyes but I know the family has understandable issues with images of their loved one in social media. Opinions?
Third; where is the best place to donate to?
I'm aware money isn't the only way to help but it's concrete and real and it can put food on the table or provide decent legal representation to those effected. I've seen a few posts with links but i ask those closer to the issue where they feel the money would do the most good.
If you aren’t paying attention to what’s happening in Ferguson right now / are tired of seeing it on your dashboard go ahead and unfollow me because this is so serious and just because it isn’t happening in your backyard doesn’t mean you should turn a blind eye to it.
I'm hearing so much about Ferguson, and only from Tumblr because it's not on the news. That's really bad, but it's even worse what's going on. I know I haven't posted much about it and I'm sorry for that, but I'm also really sorry for anyone in and around Ferguson dealing with this. What the police have done and are doing has no excuse. It's illegal and wrong beyond words. My heart goes out to victims and the seventeen year old shot down. Also, fairysharkmother has been posting helpful info for those who need it.
