So,once again, I became in-fucking-active because things have been hectic and stressful, to say the least.
It's been months now, but Christmas Day, as in right on the day,I found out my Cousin's husband had been detained by immigration at his JOB while he was WORKING. Emphasizing because the fuckwads that always use the 'they're just going after the dangerous ones' excuse can go suck a huge one.
My cousin,of course,loves her husband and wasn't about to just let him go back to Mexico alone ,which is based,ride-or-die behavior. The thing is, they have FOUR kids. So the kids had to come with too. They didn't want to split the family up ,understandably, but three of them are young Itty bitty kids and the oldest had a job and was about to finish high-school ,so his grandma offered to let him stay with her because this would be a major detriment to his plans. This means a kid from a family of 6 had to see his family,mom,dad, and sisters,leaving to another country without him. (I don't want to hear shit from people talking about 'protecting families' either when this shit is happening)
Suffice to say,I was horribly distraught by the news. Thankfully, everyone had adjusted a bit but fucking hell, that doesn't make it easier.
The next thing that happened a few days later was an official announcement from my spouse. Who,by the way,gave me space to process the news about my cousin first because I was already a mess.
Turns out,I do not have a husband.
That's right, my spouse is a Trans Woman. She had been dealing with a lot of emotions and thought about her identity for a while and finally decided to stop being in denial and take that big step to really being herself.
Please note: that we had been together,up to that point for 14 years since high school and married for 4 years. We recently just passed out 5 year wedding anniversary.
So yeah. Of course,I still love my wife. Why wouldn't I? She is still as sweet,supportive, hardworking, and intelligent as always.
Now, she did start HRT a few months ago and has been noticing subtle changes. Not enough to quite clock her yet, but enough that we are pretty sure she won't be able to hide it for that much longer.
Not exactly the first place people think of when it comes to trans-friendly places.
I have been kind of on edge wondering what I'm going to do and how I can keep her safe but,it's hard,man.
Like, is my love and support really going to amount to much in the face of increasingly restrictive laws and people who refuse to just mind their business??
I know I should say 'yes' but it's hard with shit being the way it is right now.
Anyways,maybe I'm going to try and post more.
I'm still moving forward as best I can.
Trans rights are human rights.
