How to help the environment + story time 🌻🍃

so I HATE LAWNS and this summer I'm gonna rip mine up and put seeds and foods in it. Why?

Because you've been trained and conditioned by capitalism and your own expectations, it's hard to unlearn the thing we've been taught, but its necessary so YES!!! Lawns are lethal!! Like what normal human waste this much water just cuz “grass has to be green” not to mention it scares the critters away. Accidentally over-trimmed my yard and all the rabbits fled 😥 The largest crop grown in the US is lawn grass. I’m ready to plant even more dandelions and grape hyacinths in my front yard and let them take over. They’re FAR more beautiful and valuable. Plus planting plants like lavender is good for bees! and makes tea! but some plants may be toxic to cats so if you’re in a neighborhood with a lot of strays be careful!! So thats why i LOVE planting basil Flowers, and it is safe for animals like cats and dogs if they eat any. plus, it is delish 👍so moral of the story pals that Lawns are OUT biodiverse gardens full of native plants are IN 🥰🥰

Ok so I just discovered these two Chrome extensions and they’re beautiful and you should all get them. 

The first is called Tab for a Cause, which changes your new tab page into a customisable page, with clocks, bookmarks, sticky notes, etc. and rewards you with a Heart every time you look something up. You can then donate these Hearts to a charity of your choice, which is then given an actual donation from Tab for a Cause. You can read more about it here, and add it to Chrome here.

The other changes your default search engine to Ecosia, which is cute and comes up with good results, and using it helps raise money for planting trees (lots of trees). You can learn more here and get it here.

These are both free and compatible, so I really recommend you get both.

How to help save the planet by lessening your consumerism.

-Do not make “temporary”/“just for now” purcahses: If you want something, you should buy exactly what you want, not something to ‘fill in’ for what you want that is cheap and you don’t like that much.

-If it does not fit/you do not like it, then do not buy it: I cannot stess this enough, I don’t care if it was on sale! (This also reduces clutter in your wardrobe/room)

-Only buy clothes that are suitable to the climate/season you are currently in: Unless you love it so much you could die or you are going on vacation That cute crop top won’t feel so cute if your nipples have frozen off.

-Buy for your space: If you know that there is no room for what you have eyes for in your house/room then do not buy it. (This also redcues clutter)

If you can't think of three thing you already have that you could with the item you want to buy, then don't buy it.
