Companies that are going green

The Companies
Many big-name organizations are making the choice to be more eco-friendly as of lately. And no, they’re not irrelevant small businesses, either- they’re major. However, several of the names are quite unexpected. Some of the companies have been burned as being detrimental to the environment and are now trying to compensate, and some are just making the choice to be more green. These companies include Bank of America, General Electric, McDonald’s, Wal-Mart, Enterprise, and Starbucks.
The Processes
Most of the ways in which these names are going green are fairly simple- reducing paper usage, eco-friendly products, and recycling. But some means are much more specific and impactful. For example, Wal-Mart has implemented a plan to eventually power all stores (over 10,000) with renewable energy; Enterprise car rentals provides both hybrid and fuel-efficient cars and has even planted millions of tress across the country. Even McDonald’s, renowned for being a disgrace to the environment, has committed to “more humane business practices”, aka less desolation of natural habitats.
The Results
Obviously, the environment will realize the benefit of companies becoming more environmentally conscious. But the companies themselves will experience the advantages: a healthier workplace for all employees, a more positive view from the public, and an overall more sustainable company.
The Bottom Line
Large corporations play a large role in its consumers’ lives. By going green, these companies are setting the example for society.
