"Why couldn’t they just have made this a new area?” grumbles Makoto. “Just change one of the branches no one goes to or something. Can’t imagine what a full-scale renovation of the ward’s gonna do to my property value... This is the first time I’ve owned a home and it’s already gone to shit.”
Sighing, Makoto stops in the intersection to get a better look at her surroundings. The great tree stands proudly to her west, and in the other directions is... someplace else. Buildings that are simultaneously too modern and too old-fashioned for her liking, horse-drawn carriages, overgrown shrubbery and, of course, pixies. Or fairies, or whatever they are.
“They could have at least polled the residents here,” she says, thinking about which direction she needs to head in. “I wonder how Tsubaki feels, though. She might actually kinda like it...”
Shrugging, Makoto heads north. She should’ve just sucked it up and bought the map from the Galaxy store, but her pride wouldn’t allow it. Give it a week or two and she’ll have the area on lockdown, though god only knows when she’ll find a new noodle place.
Eventually, she grows tried of wandering, and decides to focus her attention on one of the ward’s new landmarks. Although she isn’t sure where it is, she’s not too proud to ask for help, and so she approaches a stranger who seems like he’s still holding onto his clothing from the old Cotes design.
“Hey hey, mind if I ask you somethin’?” she says, giving him a tap on the shoulder. “I’m looking for the Great Library of... Xalphio? Something like that. Anyways, do you know where it might be? I heard they got some cool stuff there, but I still haven’t gotten my bearings back since they switched everything around. You know how it is, right?”
