HOW TO HELP SYRIA: a masterpost
A go fund me I would suggest checking out: https://www.gofundme.com/2s47fb6s A list of good non profits: https://qz.com/567709/how-to-help-syrian-refugees/ As to more ways you can help Syria (I didn't write this- @/eemanabbasi on Twitter did. All @'s are used for Twitter- not tumblr. ) 1. Donate to orgs working on the ground in Syria rn. Groups like @SyriaCivilDef @IslamicRelief @MSF @sams_usa all put their lives at risk. 2. Donate to intl orgs working w Syrian refugees in camps. @karamfoundation @Sunrise_USA @ProjAmalouSalam @hands4Syr @medicalteams 3. Support smaller local orgs who support ppl in camps and/or resettle refugees. @IRISCT @CT_Anchor @MoreThan10K @CWSGSO @HIASrefugees 4. Put pressure on your leaders to lift the ban on Syrian refugees. Here's how to call your reps and what to say: "Hi my name is ______ I'm a constituent of representative/senator _______ I'm call because I'm concerned about President Donald Trumps signing an executive order restricting immigration from Muslim majority countries and ending the Syrian refugee resettlement program. This executive order goes against our shared American values of religious tolerance, diversity, and non discrimination. I'm calling to see if representative/senator _______ plans to publicly oppose Trumps decision to sign this executive order." 5. Educate yourself on the crisis so you know why you must advocate for refugees. A good video for this is on YouTube, titled "The European Refugee Crisis and Syria Explained" by Kurzgesagt - In a Nutshell. 6. Money isn't the only way to help. If there are refugees resettled in your community: volunteer driving them, give English lessons, etc. 7. A lot of anti-refugee sentiment is fueled by Islamophobia. Learn abt Islam, teach others, and be an ally. A good video to learn about it is on YouTube titled "Islam, the Quran, and The Five Pillars All Without The Flamewar: crash course world history #13" by Crash Course 8. Organize an event to write letters for refugee kids in camps. They need to know that the world hasn't forgotten them. @AnyRefugee @care Please reply with some good links/way you know to help. We cannot allow this to happen.
