Is it wrong that if I was in charge of a he-man reboot, I’d hire artists who are as thirsty about bug people as the She-Ra reboot is about reptile people?

Its not even a fetish of mine, the thought just makes me giggle mischeviously.

Also Prince Adam and Buzzoff have been a crackship for me since He-Man was always saving Buzz Off from the Horde in advertisements.

Heman Reboot Idea: The Crimson Countess

My take is a less fullout doomsday evil than her Classics bios fiction

An occasional ally of Skeletor, the countess is mostly a very bored immortal woman who once plagued the planet before growing disillusioned with the idea that a planet as chaotic as Eternia could ever be brought to heel.

She likes to mock villains who haven’t left the “edgelord” phase.

In sunlight she loses all her supernatural powers.

However she is the most accomplished swordswoman in Eternian history...so good luck.

Running gag is she says anyone attracted to her is “too young”.

Batros

Remember Batros? The villainous criminal that wasn't a part of Skeletor's gang but Skeletor somewhat respected.

Had an evil plan where he steal valuable books containing critical information from Cast, and extort them for power?

Wore a possible prototype of the Horde Symbol from when the Horde was still in development?

Who set up his lair in the abandoned Temple of the Sun, which is hilarious for obvious reasons?

Most people proposing redesigns just fold him into the Speleans

Just as we have multiple cat and reptile people spread across Eternia and Etheria, I think we can allow for additional bat people if they fill another niche

While the Club Filmation figure toy bio implies his whole race is evil... that's really, really against the spirit of the show, but there is  aesthetic also helps give an idea for nonevil and civilian types

19th and early 20th- style Vampire and bat-costumes and illustrations

Batros has the makings to be a "gentleman thief" that talks badly about everyone behind their back. (but you know, still ripped because this is Eternia.)

There is also the idea his personal logo could be based on the Horde. Perhaps he is a descendent of a Hordesman stranded on or recruited from Eternia? Found some artifacts from a failed invasion of Eternia and was inspired?

My ideal portrayal of Skeletor

One Episode: Skeletor smuggles weapons into a kingdom in order to start a civil war

Later Episode : Skeletor’s ex-Girlfriend from one of his adventures on other planets is crashing on his couch to lay low from the law and won’t leave.

Next Plan: Skeletor creates a fake monster to scare people off their land and hide his activities in excavating an ancient artifact

Still Later: Skeletor channels agony and fear from a rip in time and space to create the ghostly Scareglow!...then sends their creation off to ruin Prince Adam’s birthday party

Season Finale: Skeletor finds a way to reawaken an army of skeletal demons who worship him as a god

Bug People and Cyborg wings

I never noticed this before but Buzz-Off’s wings seem technological on the original toy

Mosquitor’s 2002 collector statue has artificial winglike projections, that likely don’t let them fly, but give me an idea...

I like the idea of Eternian insectoid people coming from lower gravity worlds, losing the ability to fly , and then regaining it by technological means.

Trivia fact for mosqitor, they included the idea of his “peaceful” disguise form where he looks like a mild mannered fly person like his original bio said.but couldn’t be done in the toy, but then glued to the figure so it can’t come off without glue remover

He-Man in cyborgs

You know, I’d play all the cyborgs in Masters of the Universe as loveable quirky transhumanists instead of so many of them being victims of cruel unethical experimentation

Because it explains Fearless Photog so well

This is a person who had a vision, and committed to it.

Someone who in another life might be a Silver Age Supervillain or just a roleplayer, on Eternia is a valued member of society

Fearless Photog was invented by a child and unlike the reviewer in the link, I consider this a genius design.

edit: Actually he works really well for my reboot idea where He-Man is part of a response team after a planet-wide disaster.

In my MOTU dream reboot I’d make “Horde Prime” a title

So we could have the UK comics Horde Prime having been overthrown and demoted by the Filmation version and scheming to get their power back.

And yes, he would be related to both the new Horde Prime and Hordak, if only by genetic corruption from a villainous progenitor who spread their essence across the galaxy ala the Reyblood in Ultra Galaxy ( a villain who arranged so heirs with similar abilities to himself would spring up upon his death and continue his legacy... after they killed eachother in a conflict of “there can only be one.” Wasn’t even an M. Bison bodyjacking plan, he was honest about resting in peace if a proper heir was found)

The Horde Prime styled after the Filmation version would be the closest to capturing the “glory” of their ancestor, or perhaps has already surpassed them.

Instead of shape shifting, I see this guy more as a gadget user who uses machines to transduce his natural magic or cosmic energy into various useful forms, given he has wrist guns and a utility belt.

He’s more a Space villainous Springheel Jack than a space vampire/evil presence like most of his family I’m thinking. 

Hordak you can picture prowling around an abandoned spaceship alien-style early in his career.

This dude, could be given similarly intimidating redesign but feels like more the guy who sneaks around scarily enough in highly populated places, like a comic book urban level supervillain but the ambition of the world conquering type.

How I’d handle Space Travel and Eternia

Space technology on Eternia is generally limited to that that can reach its moons, trading with the colonies on there.

However, the planet not cut off from the rest of the universe.

In fact, Eternia is regarded as one of the best places to lie low if on the run from the law. (Which of course brings bounty hunters to the planet).

Most spacefaring civilizations consider it a very silly place, and avoid many major dealings with the planet except with the most stable and long lasting nation states.

Attempts to extort or subjugate the inhabitants of the planet using orbital weaponry have always failed from mysterious strings of unlikely technical failures, preserving the planet’s independence and giving it a cursed reputation.

*Zodak is more useful than Marvel’s The Watcher , even if I wouldn’t make him a straight up hero.
