I always watch Deja Vu All Over Again when I’m feeling down, and what caught my eye this time was the report on Sherlock from Hemdale. It mentions his depression, which they never actually brought up over the course of the season, even though we knew it was there. Sort of. But it wasn’t ever brought up as a clinical thing that needed to be discussed. I think its considered as a part of the process of recovery.  Anyway, zoom into the report. Its interesting. It talks about how social interaction is the most important part of his recovery.

His “isolationist tendencies are decidedly not his best quality”, as he himself puts it.

This movie was made in the same year as Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog, and Nickelodeon’s Doug, Rugrats, and Ren & Stimpy.

Cleveland's Hemdale were part of grindcore's late Nineties resurgance. Their raw Carcass-influenced grind attracted the interest of Relapse Records, who released Rad Jackson - a complilation of their demos and early split EPs - in 2002. Horror Pain Gore Death Productions will be re-releasing Rad Jackson as an expanded double LP on August 1st.
