Having difficulty understanding Boom Knux' relationship with Sonic. Knuckles is loyal to Sonic (outside of interactions that are played for laughs), but also jealous of him. This makes sense in the games, the comics, the movie, all the other timelines, where Knuckles was the Guardian of the Master Emerald, been alone all his life, but Sonic has helped him to feel not so alone, to feel included, so he's naturally conflicted. But so far, I don't get the impression there is any Master Emerald in Boom, so Knuckles' sometimes friends, sometimes rivals relationship with Sonic isn't adding up for me.

Best I've come up with is that Knuckles is this big, beefy guy and super-strong, so maybe he thinks he should be more popular and beloved than scrawny little Sonic?
