Elongated white “whiskers” and brows give this elegant species the appearance of a distinguished Victorian gentleman. Long-tailed and long-winged, like a cross between a swift and a swallow. Glossy brownish-olive with glossy blue-black wings and head. Male has chestnut ear patch, female bluish. Makes sallies from exposed perches such as snags in forests and forest edges. Gives squeaky, excited-sounding calls and high-pitched chattering. source

The whiskered treeswift (Hemiprocne comata) is a species of bird in the family Hemiprocnidae. It is found in Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, and Thailand. Found in forests of Southeast Asia, Whiskered Treeswifts are closely related to true swifts. Unlike true swifts, treeswifts are able to perch on branches. Although they look similar, all swifts are only distantly related to swallows. They are in the order Apodiformes, which also includes hummingbirds. These birds build their nests at the end of thin branches to avoid predation by snakes. Their diet is mostly insects, which they often catch in flight.

the whiskered treeswift is a bird of the family Hemiprocnidae (treeswifts). they can be found in many parts of south Asia such as Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore. they can be found in subtropical and lowland forests mangroves and monatane regions. they get their name from their tufts under their bills that look like whiskers or a mustache. they are fairly small growing up to 17cm long. and like other swifts they feed on insects usually taken on the wing.
