Hemiunu (Hm-ỉwnw) was a son of prince Nefermaat and his wife, Itet. He was a grandson of Sneferu and a relative of Khufu. He is believed to have been the architect of the Great Pyramid of Giza. His well-fed appearance was a sign of wealth and status.

Meet Hemiunu — the brilliant mind behind the Great Pyramid of Khufu.

He wasn’t just an architect. He was a mathematician, engineer, and organizer who turned Khufu’s dream into the greatest monument on Earth.

Hemiunu discovered the perfect 51.84° angle, managed tens of thousands of workers, and created a construction system that still amazes modern engineers. This man literally built eternity.

When he died, he was buried beside the Pyramid, and his only statue was placed near his tomb to guard his soul forever.

But centuries later, everything changed. His statue was stolen during periods of chaos and illegal digging. Many researchers believe it was smuggled through Minya, a route known for moving stolen artifacts.

Today, the Great Pyramid still stands — the masterpiece he created. But his only statue is far from home, displayed in the Roemer-Pelizaeus Museum in Hildesheim, Germany.

Hemiunu's tomb lies near Khufu's pyramid

Hemiunu's tomb lies near Khufu's pyramid and contains reliefs of his picture. A few stones of his severely harmed mastaba (G4000 [es]) are set apart with dates alluding to Khufu's reign.[6] His sculpture [7] can be found at the Pelizaeus Museum, Hildesheim, Germany.[4] This sculpture is booked to be lent for the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (as of August 2016 the Egyptian Museum has not yet been opened, and the sculpture is still in plain view in Hildesheim).

His sculpture was found in the walled-up serdab of Hemiunu's mastaba by prehistorian Hermann Junker in March 1912. Antiquated thieves had scoured the mastaba as they continued looking for significant things and the divider to the serdab had a kid estimated opening cut into it. The burglar commandingly gouged out the sculpture's valuable trimmed eyes and gold castings, in the process the correct arm was broken and the head cut off. The head has been restored,[8] utilizing an alleviation of Hemiunu as a guide for the nose's profile.

The situated sculpture is all around protected, aside from the harm referenced above, and is prominent for its authenticity, not found in old Egyptian workmanship portraying imperial figures. Hemiunu's highlights are just softly adapted and plainly dependent on his appearance. He is portrayed as corpulent, with striking collection of fat in the pectoral locale. This diverges from the more admired portrayal of male subjects in imperial picture in this and most succeeding times of Ancient Egyptian workmanship.
