some of you might have seen that smackjeeves had a redesign. the hemlock minisite is now gone. i admit i haven't been paying much attention, but i didn't know things would be messed up THIS badly. to be honest i'm a little bit devastated.
i'm going to be moving the comic somewhere else. i'm not sure where to just yet, but it will still be free to read. i may bundle the chapters up as pay what you want, $0+ PDFs? if anyone's got suggestions feel free to give me your two cents. if you’re a member of my patreon, patrons will of course still get new pages first, when they eventually come (more on that in a bit).
while we're here, this is also something i've been thinking about for a while: i'm going to stop printing the comic through lulu. the books will be redesigned and printed elsewhere, hopefully with nicer paper, binding and finishing. i know this is really annoying for those who have bought copies already, and i apologize for that, but for a while now i've felt lulu's quality has gone seriously downhill since i started using them back in 2008. i'll miss the convenience of print on demand - i still think it's a good model for small creators, just not with lulu.
this kind of works out on the one hand, because i find myself hiding the first issue behind the fifth at cons. that art is 10 years old now and i've grown since then. but on the other hand, there's only one chapter left to go, so i do wonder if it's worth printing them at all, or if i should just wait and collect it all together.
on the subject of when the comic will return, i'll be brutally honest: i haven't drawn a single thing for myself this year. a literal handful of scribbles on lunchbreaks at most. 2019 has been very difficult, but that's another story. i still want to finish hemlock, i just can't promise when.
thank you so, so much to everyone still here and still waiting for the end of it. i would have given up years ago if it wasn't for you. if you've got questions or complaints, feel free to throw them at me and i'll do my best to answer.
