what gets me the most is that Nostalgia Critic has never actually been funny (i went to rewatch what were my favourite episodes and... actually didn’t know what was funny about them aside from 2-3 jokes) and is actually worsening to a state that is practically inhuman, it’s like he forgot what was his gimmick and wanted to get experimental when he shouldn’t have done this in the first place

Meanwhile James Rolfe’s AVGN stayed so consistent because. he’s just an angry video game nerd. he broadens the horizon to have new content but he sticks to video games and the idea of him being on a crusade against the “shitty video games” while making colorful insults, drinking rolling rocks, and sometimes angrily destroying the game, but it’s good because he doesn’t step overboard. idk how to explain it fascinates me
