So, this is something I started writing for Niv and I'm probably never going to finish so I might as well post it.
It's easy this routine they've slipped into.
To just relax with one another after a long day on set.
Logan is always the first one to get home. His home. And it's not theirs but it feels like it is because they always end up here and because God knows no one can step in Darren's apartment without stepping on something "it's just a different kind of oganitzation" Darren says, and Logan just goes along with it because he may not say it but he loves it. Loves that there's a shirt in his laundry basket and a toothbrush on his bathroom that are definitely not his and doesn't it make him feel good when Darren calls it home too?
He knows they can't make it official (God forbid that there be a gay actor on a kids show) but this thing they have, that has been going on for months now that they're too scared to put a label to it, is just so perfect, and it feels so perfect too, that he doesn't even care.
It's a while later that Darren gets home and , if he's not a sleep (which he normally is. Working on TV is too exhausting), they curl up on the couch with a blanket over their legs watching whatever they're doing on TV -and it doens't matter what it is, because neither of them pay attention to it, anyway- and Darren slowly starts shifting until his head is in Logan's lap and his feet are sticking out on the other end of the couch and Logan's hands, as if they have a life of their own, start petting his hair. The buzzing of the phone on the coffe table startles them. Darren reads it, laughs and hands it to him
so, I was on the internet and found this. Tell your boyfriend that he looks better with long hair
And attatched to it is a picture of Darren, clad in what seems to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume, with a mop of wild curs framing his face.
And he laughs too when he reads the text (from Kendall, of course) and everything hes feeling is so overwhelming. Because never in his wildest dreams he thought he could find someone so accepting of him (and even better, get thrown together thanks to a two year audition process with these three guys that would become his brothers) so comfortable with his life and his sexuality and it feels like a dream come true.
Just Haven't Met You Yet.
We present to you a short drabble which involves Darren, Logan, and singing while driving in Los Angeles. Enjoy~
Summer kinda took me by surprise The California sunshine in my eyes Driving with the top down, we sang along To our favourite song, cause nothing could go wrong
U Got Nothin' on Me - Demi Lovato
Darren's pink sunglasses are possibly the most eye-catching accessory owned by man, Logan believes, as they cruise down the highways of Los Angeles in Darren's hot pink convertible. They both finished off work on Glee and Big Time Rush early, and on the way to getting Chinese food, both boys got slightly sidetracked. The California sun sets in the distance, setting a light orange glow on Logan, making his skin a shade darker. Darren - the driver of the car - glances sideways from the corner of his eye and thinks to himself, Well, he looks dashing in the sun. Meanwhile, Logan resists the urge to run his fingers through Darren's mop of curly black hair.
This already sounds like the perfect evening, but to act as a cherry on top, the two actors are also singing along (in perfect harmony) to the tunes in their car for all of Los Angeles to hear.
"And I'll work to work it out," they sing into the sky, with smiles that could light up the whole town. They're both hungry and desperately in need of some dinner, sure, but who cares if you're singing Michael Buble with the guy you love?
"I just haven't met you yet," both of them belt out, bobbing their heads along to the ending beats of the song. Darren pulls the brakes and pulls over onto the side of the road that overlooks the pristine beach. He pulls off his sunglasses and looks into Logan's eyes, smiling goofily.
"Except that... I have."
Logan smirks in response. Three seasons of filming for Big Time Rush, meeting so many men who insisted they were straight (but Logan has excellent gaydar), and singing love songs to countless crowds, and he'd never come across a person quite like Darren. Someone who was so calm, collected, and serious about his work, but at the same time playful, carefree, and fun to be with. He didn't get it; he didn't mind either.
"Oh, Darren. You're so funny," he tries to say with a straight face. Darren breaks out into a hearty laugh, amused, and Logan, giving up, bites his lip and chuckles too.
And that's his way of saying, I've met you already, and I'm content.
