The seventh generation of his family to be a master blender for the House of Hennessy, Yann Fillioux, has created one of his masterpieces yet again.
One of the last blends he will make in his tenure as master blender (before his nephew, Renauld Fillioux de Gironde takes over), the Hennessy 8 blends some of the cellar’s oldest with a touch of the youngest, selected by de Gironde. Heavily floral, with sharp citrus notes interlaced with smoked oak and creamy almonds, it beckons as it evolves in the snifter. Only 250 Baccarat decanters, designed by Arik Levy, have been produced, each encased in a wooden chest fashioned from barrel staves.
It is priced at $39,000.

Paignton Parish Church 2014 by Bernie Henesy Via Flickr: Paignton Parish Church 2014, This ancient church, dedicated to St. John Baptist, is the fourth church to occupy this site. Of the first, possibly a wooden structure nothing remains above ground, although its foundations have been discovered. The second (Norman) church was built about 1100, but was almost completely demolished and rebuilt about 1250. This (third) church was transformed piecemeal throughout the Middle Ages into the present building. Its features include the South Transept (the 'Kirkham Chantry) which boasts a screen of unusual interest and beauty, a reredos commemorating a 17th century Paigntonian (Samuel Chapin) who founded the city of Springfield, Massachusetts and a 'Dog Door' in the North Door, a relic of the days when churches were also used for secular purposes.
