Hera Stromae
“The Court Mage” Inspired by “The High Priestess” --
Another card that’s been hiding away in my drafts for some time.
experimenting with Hera's mask
,,, turns out Myre's design for her works best XP;;;
i did find a nice casual one for Malcom tho :D
Who are the Stromae's and what are their links to your other characters? And what inspired you to make them?
First off, we’re so sorry forleaving you hanging like that. The two of us were in talks about itbecause we’re still tryna situate them nicely into our canon. Thatand life kinda caught up to me for a bit;;;;;;
I guess to build on what we’ve said inthis post here, the two were initially Trevelyans that we didalternate romance runs with but sort of abandoned when we decided welike our first picks better (aka our Lavellans). We don’t play them,but we figured we could still keep them in our canon somehow and sowe ended up re-imagining them as the Stromae’s: siblings, and heirsto an Orleasian Noble Household.
Unlike our other sibling duo, the twoare vicious and mutually antagonistic to each other. They both seeeach other as competition, and rightly so.Being the first born to the family,Hera was set in line to be the next Head of House, and growing up shewas seen as the favoured child among the two. So much so that whenshe started to show signs of magic the family went through greatpains to cover it up: kept it quiet, hired private tutors to trainher, and were even willing to bribe away the Templars should theycome knocking. A fact which pleased Hera but caught the ire of herbrother, Malcolm.Having long since coveted the idea ofbeing Head of House, he felt cheated when his parents decided toignore their duty to throw her to the Templars instead of passing thetitle down to him as they should have. He resented them for it eversince, and Hera even more so for her complicity in the matter.Feeding into his superiority complex, he eventually enrolled into theAcademie to train as a Chevalier and elevate his social standing.It wasn’t enough: He wanted what washis. And that meant Hera needed to be out of the way, permanently.After his training was complete,Malcolm arranged to have an anonymous tip sent to the Templars that aBlood Mage was stowing themselves away in the Stromae Household inthe hopes that it would result in Hera’s execution. And were it notfor an impassioned appeal from their parents, it would have been thecase. Instead they sent her off to the Circle tower at Ghislain,which still left the House to Malcolm upon his return, and whilesatisfied with the outcome, leaving Hera alive never sat well withhim.Nor should it have.Hera knew Malcolm had to be behind this. She could sense his hand in the events that lead her toconfinement in the circle, but proving it would be impossible and,more importantly, futile. His so called “Chevalier Honour”, ifnothing else, was the only thing keeping him from leading the actback to himself and she couldn’t contest being in the circle when shewas in fact mage. So she waited. Bided her time until an opportunityarose: The Circles were dissolved.Marching back to Malcolm immediatelyand demanding her Birthright back would be suicide. No, she neededtime and influence to get back what was hers.And then along came the Inquisition.
Hera offers her intrinsic, first-handknowledge of Orleasian politics as well as her connections within theNobility to Andros in order to get in with the Inquisition. When shesettles in to Skyhold, her interactions are mainly limited to theAdvisors or with the Inquisitor himself. Besides possibly inpreparation for the Winter Palace, Hera’s involvement with the restof the Lavellans is limited to non-existent. She is intent to get herTitle back, and for that she needs the trust and favour of theInquisitor, and him alone. She not really here to make friendsotherwise; She and Wes might get a long though. And as far a we’vefigured, Malcolm has no interactions with anyone in the Inquisition.
We both have some thoughts on how theirstory should wrap up but we’re not really sure what direction to gowith just yet. I was thinking though, that if I can rework the DA RPGa bit, I might work them into a D&D 5e style adventure campaign.It’s just a thought for now though.
Otherwise, that’s them: Our twoOrleasian assholes!

(please don’t tag/comment with your Inquisitor, thanks)
Inkquisitober Day 11: Recruiting Hera

Got to thinking about a Hera redesign recently.
