The word of proclamation and the act of love reach me—if they really do reach me–from my fellow man. God is the whence of my being taken care of and of my being obliged, which comes to me from my fellow man. To abide in God would therefore mean to abide in the concrete act of devoting oneself to the other; whoever abides in agapan abides in God. (I John 4:16). I can speak of God only where I speak of man, and hence anthropologically....That would mean then, however, that man as man, man in relation with this fellow man, implies God. that would always have to be discovered anew from the New Testament. God would then be a definite type of relation with one's fellow man. The atheist misses man.
