Herbie is such an unreliable narrator. And the best part is, everyone around (minus Mollusc) keeps thinking of him as the honest kid.

He's loyal, empathetic and righteous. But he is not honest. Not verbally, at least.

This kid has no trouble keeping secrets, withholds information with a straight face, has different dedicated smiles for situations to look "helpful", "innocent" or "cheeky", makes up lies on the spot and is 24/7 gaslighting adults.

Herbie "adopted by the whole town" Lemon not being as compelled to find out about his parents as Violet because he already has all kinds of parental support that he needs.

Like, he lives at the hotel, where there's Amber (chill sister) and occasionally Lady Kraken (weirdly supportive grandma) (ignore Mollusc)

Dr Thalassi said they used to have lessons in mechanics and stuff. Wendy seems to know every food favourite of his. Jenny sees him so often she's genuinely surprised he never had a second book dispensed. Seagol takes his trinkets for money. Even the fishermen didn't really wanna kill him. One of them said he was even there when they found him.

And yes, every single one isn't exactly a 'parent' on their own, but together, they provide pretty much the same support system.

Violet on the other hand grew up with her aunt, whom, as far as we know was neglectful but rich. She didn't remember her parents either, but she wanted so bad to fill the gap they left. She spent a long while looking for clues towards them and actively put herself in danger for it. She's much calmer in book 2 just because she knows more than they're out there and not dead. That there's a chance she'll find them or they'll find her.

Friends, romans, countrymen lend me your ears.

After taking the realms of Facebook and Twitter by storm (I often exaggerate) I have now turned my attention to the mystical world of tumblr. I realise without any followers as of yet :( this post may seem somewhat negligent, nevertheless I'd like to lose my tumblrginity by telling you a bit about myself.

 My name is Herbert Lemon, I'm 6 foot, have blonde hair and blue eyes (I realise I may sound Aryan to those who have never met me) I'm the youngest of three, my parents are both older and I dream of one day being famous in some shape or form. I am still clueless as to how this dream can be achieved as I possess no discernible talent, other than basket weaving, wolf whistling and monopoly none of which are Olympic sports (get on the case Lord Coe!) but I'm hoping this blog can somehow send me in the right direction. My main passion is writing so hopefully this medium will allow me to share my work (good or bad) with the world. But I will also be posting about anything interesting or thought provoking that takes place in my daily life. Until then I follow the advice of one my idols Tommy Cooper who said always leave them laughing so . . .
