the details still fogged her memory–– where she’d been, what had happened. they’d put her on ice once upon a time, the hope for a better future with the assurance that captain america lived on. or at least, one of them. the details filtered in the longer she was conscious, bits and pieces blown out in vivid color against a sea of darkness. they’d done their best to make her comfortable, and for that, she was grateful, but her gut churned with the understanding that there was far more hiding than had been revealed.
she was seated in a manila waiting room, beige walls on beige furniture opposite a peculiar looking man with an eye patch and an air of authority even peggy carter couldn’t help but default to. there was a warmth to him despite the hard edges, and for the first time since she’d been thawed, peggy exhaled a subtle sigh of relief. ❛ i take it you’re the man in charge. ❜
