hi west.. ^_^ gonna be a looooong long post i lowkey forgot how convoluted my selfship was because i haven't written anything big for it in a while.. lol..
ok to get you on baseline seekers notes lore, it's a hidden object game :3c and premise is that you (the player) suddenly appear in a cursed city called Darkwood where it was wiped off the maps + things go missing easily + there's a mist surrounding it that makes people disappear and/or sick when they stray too close to it
and you (the player) cannot remember your name nor your past but is found to have the ability to find anything no matter how scarce, hence, you are then dubbed 'The Seeker' and the townspeople say that you are destined to save this city with that ability. I base my s/i on this premise ^_^
Informant is.. yknow.. the Informant ! he's a spy who goes around the city fighting crime and solving mysteries <3 and my s/i is the one who assists him in his investigations sometimes
OK TIME FOR THE SELFSHIP PART i've got a list of themes in this so i'll pluck one to expand on here..
Love in acceptance, or love in being non-human, the both of them are non human to a certain extent, Informant in the rather literal sense that He Is A Werewolf, but he suppresses it with potions so he doesn't turn into one every full moon, his way of feeling non human is internal. It's an aspect of him that he's ashamed of, very regretful of, because he got bitten by one, it's something he never wanted to be in the first place & is also the falling domino effect to where he is now
Seeker is also non-human but its by outside perspectives and informant was not immune to it. In the world, Seekers are a prominent enough figure to be written about in history books, and the last time Darkwood had a Seeker was before the mist, a century ago.
Along with how they're supposed to help the townspeople with their ability, they're made out to be a celebrity of sorts, or like a tool, and they don't have anything to them other than their ability, so it becomes the only thing that people take note of, it's even in their name! Their only purpose is to save the city, and all of this was out of their obligation. It makes them bitter about their situation in one way or another.
I explain Informant's thought process when first meeting them here but TL;DR he merely saw them as a stepping stone in his investigations, because everyone built them up to be something more than what they are and it makes him jealous since they inherently have the ability to change fate (by saving the city) it makes him reflective of his own issues
MY POINT IS THAT he spent a good lot of the first few times seeing them as something of use and it didn't help that at first my s/i would be constantly running around doing things without any breaks with furthered his opinion of it. The more they get to know each other, the less he thinks of them as a tool but his inferior feelings still linger, they're just more on the backburner
Over the course of the relationship, Informant helps my s/i realise that there can be more to them than simply the savior they come to accept it and Grow, they find more about themselves (this then converges into another theme called The Loss/Grief and Rediscovery of Personal Identity) the more time they spend together the more they find things about themselves that they otherwise would not have found out, which makes them drawn to each other, cause and effect!
Seeker also accepts Informant's lycanthropy, and it's something that he yearns for because he's spent so long (i like to think, years) despising that part of himself, and with how he knows he would the townspeople would riot if they ever found out (he had attacked the city on accident when he turned once, which led up to the reveal) Their acceptance means the world to him, which makes him all the more drawn to them.. He yearns for genuine human connection so badly!!! he had shut himself off from the world for so long that finding something so raw and genuine within the seeker makes him wonder when the feeling arrived !!
