After being groomed from childhood to become an officer, Argyle jumped at the chance to become a scout when it was offered. It was only supposed to be a temporary thing, a few deca-phoebs at most, but Argyle wanted to be a pilot so badly that he didn't care. His father allowed it in hopes that it would give Argyle some confidence and experience, making his eventual transition to commanding officer a smoother one. His partner was a strict, unfriendly type, but Argyle was more interested in flying than making friends anyway.

They never picked up any signals, until one day they did. They found a pretty little planet with seven moons that sent their equipment crazy with readings. They weren't Voltron signals, or anything else the ships' computers recognized. It was more like a surge of very strange Quintessence than anything else. Before hey could report it, however, their ships were caught in a freak solar storm that scrambled their signal and shorted out their computers. The turbulence threw them helplessly towards the planet.

Argyle tried to get control of his ship while his partner's burnt up in the atmosphere. He barely managed to avoid the same fate, but the crystalline blue of an ocean was rapidly approaching.

"Come on, come on, please..." He fought against the malfunctioning controls. Somehow, he got the ship aimed at the shore instead out the middle of the sea. By then, it was too late to do anything else except brace himself.

The small Galra vessel crashed violently into a beach, not far from a series of sea caves. Argyle's last thought before the impact was one of gratitude that he wasn't landing on the rocks.

Then, nothing.
