Being a young Catholic woman, some of you will genuinely never understand how much it hurts my heart to hear people disrespect Mary. I get a lot of comments and DMs from Protestants or people of other religions that say genuinely awful things about her. (not saying ALL protestants or people of other faiths do this, there are a lot of you out there who are genuinely respectful and I love you for that! ♡)
They’ll say that we worship her, that having statues and shrines for her is idolatry, that praying to her is necromancy, that she’s a sinner, that she’s worthless in the eyes of God.
I want to cry every time I see such words.
It amazes me that even though we all believe in the same God, there are some that will turn and attack their own brothers and sisters with cruel words or mock the Blessed Mother.
my beautiful Blessed Mother
Mary, Mother of God, please be a mother to me now

The Virgin Mary. Wang Su-Da. 1931-41. ink and water-based colors on silk.
the Theotokos is depicted as a ming dynasty empress, as shown by her lavish clothing. on the top of her head, she wears a fengguan, which represents femininity, grace, and high virtue. by placing it on the head of the Our Lady, she is identified as Empress, Queen of Heaven. above her head, The Holy Spirit is represented as a dove. her expression is serene and calm. her palms show the heavens above and the gesture is common in orthodox icons, representing prayer and acceptance of grace.
