❛ bold of you to assume you know better. ❜ she doesn’t lift her gaze from yellowed pages burdened with age and fingers pressed in too harshly time and time again. her attention is not exactly divided, more like splattered here and there, with the most of it being set on the scripture her eyes are scanning. rayna’s merely being dramatic, she’s sure of that; she’s heard many people, humans especially, talk about how they ‘ must not have their soul anymore ’, but none of that was true. she knew. she could see, feel it, taste it in the air around them. even immortals, in a way, were mortal. they still breathed, and still ached for air if that was stopped. some of them slept, ate, bled. rayna should have been grateful for the possibility of death instead of denying it; she should be overjoyed that she had a mortal soul within that hadn’t yet been touched by hellfire. despite what she might have thought of herself, it wasn’t tainted, there was no devil’s mark on her —— not yet. satana looked, subtly, not wanting to awaken suspicion: if one appeared, it’d be only a matter of time till she became another sacrifice, turned into ashes at her feet.
it takes a few minutes for her to pinch herself mentally for sounding a little too gruff, and two ebonies go up if only to meet a side of her. ❛ you’re still alive—— aren’t you ? ❜

her lips part, but there’s no sound coming out of them. she just breathes in, out, closes her mouth, gaze sliding through the area behind rayna, jumping on her face for brief moments in between; confusion is written all over her as she’s trying to find the proper words to express herself. ❛ ...and here i thought i was the weird one. ❜ a whisper under her nose ( it wasn’t the oddest thing she’s ever heard of, hell was full of eccentric individuals, and partly, that’s why she enjoyed staying there sometimes ), fingers don’t move from her book, and she’s not entirely convinced this man is worth her full attention. ❛ a coconut ? huh. ❜
