Hermetic Lots

The Hermetic Lots are the mathematical points which are calculated with the Ascendant and two other astrological points in natal chart. They are used in Hellenistic astrology in order to assign additional topics of the visible planets. There are seven Hermetic Lots, just like seven visible planets we use in Hellenistic astrology. Similar with the planets, the rulers of Hermetic Lots are very important and are something that you should check out.

☽ Lot of Fortune

Also known as the Lot of the Moon

How to calculate it:

Day chart: LoF = ASC + Sun - Moon

Night chart: LoF = ASC + Moon - Sun

This is probably the most known Lot in astrology. Many ancient astrologers, such as Vettius Valens mentioned that the Lot of Fortune acts like the second or the alternative Ascendant. The Lot of Fortune represents the additional points of the planet Moon, such as body, livelihood and the fortune as the synonym of the circumstance of your life you don't have much control over.

☉ Lot of Spirit

Also known as the Lot of the Sun

How to calculate it:

Day chart: LoS = ASC + Moon - Sun

Night chart: LoS = ASC + Sun - Moon

The Lot of Spirit signifies the additional points of the planet Sun, such as intelligence, power, faith, beliefs and thoughts. It describes what your soul is being drawn towards. It is also known as the Lot of Hidden.

♀ Lot of Eros

Also known as the Lot of Venus

How to calculate it:

Day chart: LoE = ASC + LoS - Venus

Night chart: LoE = ASC + Venus - LoS

The Lot of Eros represents the additional points of the planet Venus, such as love, pleasure, sex and your desires. It describes the type of person you are going to sleep or have a sex with.

♃ Lot of Victory

Also known as the Lot of Jupiter

How to calculate it:

Day chart: LoV = ASC + LoS - Jupiter

Night chart: LoV = ASC + Jupiter - LoS

The Lot of Victory signifies the additional points of the planets Jupiter, such as blessings, hopes, dreams, your honors and achievements. It shows the area where you're going to "win" or get the blessings.

☿️ Lot of Necessity

Also known as the Lot of Mercury

How to calculate it:

Day chart: LoN = ASC + Mercury - LoF

Night chart: LoN = ASC + LoF - Mercury

The Lot of Necessity represents the additional points of the planet Mercury, such as business dealings, trade, commerce, but also a constraint and subordinates. It usually describes something we are obligated to do so.

♂ Lot of Courage

Also known as the Lot of Mars

How to calculate it:

Day chart: LoC = ASC + Mars - LoF

Night chart: LoC = ASC + LoF - Mars

The Lot of Courage signifies the additional points of the planet Mars, such as bravery, boldness, evildoings and management. It shows things we are doing by force.

♄ Lot of Nemesis

Also known as the Lot of Saturn

How to calculate it:

Day chart: LoN = ASC + Saturn - LoF

Night chart: LoN = ASC + LoF - Saturn

The Lot of Nemesis represents the additional points of the planet Saturn, such as enemies, death, the circumstances of death, sorrow and destruction. It can describe your weakest point or area of your life.

Whats the arabic parts / lots in astrology ? :

Lots in astrology are NOT planets neither fixed stars neither asteroid. They are calculated points in ur natal chart, lots are made by mathematical formula that combine ascendants and other planets. On the system of lots, which are influential points as distant from some specified points in the horoscopic diagram as two planets are from each other.

Planets and houses can have many meanings but one can desire a lot of meanings. The lot/part can represent ONE THING.

Arab astrologers in 8th and 9th century inherited this knowledge from babylonian and greek astrologers.

The most collections of formulas come from :

Firmicus maternus, 334 AD.

Al-biruni, 1029 AD.

Marcus manilus, 15 AD.

Even ptolemy mentioned a little about lots, he used lots of fortune.

Lots also can used in horary/mundan astrology and solar return chart and it’s so important.

There are not just part/lots of planets, there are also part/lots of HOUSES.

Calculation :

-find the distance between the two tangible points on the chart then add the distance to the ASCENDANT “most of lots formulas start with ascendant since ascendant represent the beginning”.

Most of the lots formulas reverse if you’re a night chart person.

If your sun is in 7th to 12th house then your a day chart.

If your sun is in 1st to 6th house then your a night chart.

“Lot” meaning :

-Pars (pl. partes) means a "part, portion, share, role, lot or fate, side, faction, direction."

The original Greek kleros means a "lot" that is cast (whence we get our English word "lottery").

Look at the sign of the lot + look at the lord of the lot, look at the house of the lot. Look at the planets that conjunct the lot. Is lot benefic or malefic in the sign/house? Is the house lord of the lot benefic and malefic?

Lord of the lot :

Check the planet that rule the sign that your lot in, the rule of the lot plays a big role and can give you details. Also check where the house in the lot, then the sign. Check the planets that conjunct the lots. And combine them all.

Transit to the lot :

-planet that transits your lots are soooo important, for example if saturn transit in your lots of spirit you will struggle with ur willpower, if jupiter transit in ur lot of eros you will have s€xual opportunities. Etc etc

Eclipses to the lot :

-if the eclipses conjunct your lot, this eclipse will be life changing to you. Either new beginnings or ending to the lot.
