41: Hermetus
Notched + Tied have been off the grid, chasing the last of the sunlight before work and school compel once more. Plenty of gadgets have worked their way into our repertoire, and we have much to report. To ease you back into our repartee, we’ll start with the Macgyver of beer tools, a three-in-one device, engineered by the same people who brought you the BMW, Nutella, and the Bauhaus movement; the Hermetus. Your beer will never be the same.
Unlike your traditional two-in-one openers, it doesn’t solely open beer, it has an ingenious rubber-sealing means of closing it as well. The unique thing about the Hermetus is that it doesn’t improve the beer so much as it pauses a moment indefinitely, bottling it back to where you left off until you open the beer once more and continue. Indulgence in swimming holes or homemade pizza can occasionally push an opened beer out of mind. Now, you can seal the bottle without worrying about flat suds later on.
The Hermetus has worked its way into beer stores across the nation, and is also available in this month's Bespoke Post, along with a hops tasting kit, hand-crafted beer glasses, and felt coasters, also from Germany. Beer Gear Hermetus: $10 Graf & Lantz Bierfilzl Coasters (set of 4): $24
