limitations : give them one or two limits : limited energy for portals / portals are not instant and take a moment to form
appearance : describe their hero vibe : like a dark knight with a flaming sword, gatewatch is a force of nature on the battlefield. cape billowing, sword shining. the portals he creates are ringed with the tattered edges of carved space.
–
ORIGIN AND NORMAL LIFE:
decription on file : dr. elias thornehart is a brilliant scientist, and through his genius he mastered portal creation. he sought to help people with his technology, while quietly judging if society was ready for what he could unleash by selling it. he crafted his blade, aeternum, and set out to become a hero. he was part of the original protectors, and a short two years after they announced themselves to the world they were attacked. a bomb threatened to destroy the city, and he used his powers to send it away. but in the backlash he was drawn into the portal he had created. assumed dead, he instead went to one of the demon realms. a land known as the red labyrinth. he spent sixty years trapped there, fighting demons, evading capture and making himself the enemy of it’s ruler. eventually he challenged the leader of these demons to a game of wits. if he lost, he would surrender. if he won, the demon prince would give him the power to return home. gatewatch won. with hellfire now fueling aeternum he ripped through the barriers between dimensions and returned home. he had been ageless in the demon realm, not realizing how much time had passed. he expected to return to a heroes welcome. instead he arrived amid ruins. now he returns to the life of a hero, staggered and uncertain. a legend returned. a myth realized. and he is terrified of what it means to be someone that was looked up to.
behind the hero : once, he was a father. a husband. a scientist. now he is unmoored. his husband is dead. his son is a middle aged man. his lab sold. unmoored and thrown into chaos, he clings to what he can. teaching. helping. saving the world. knowing all the while that he may have to give his life again.
limitations : limits: due to the rules that is imbued in the executioner sword, eurus is limited to what he can perform with his sword. he can not be too good or the sword will be too pure for him to handle, and he can't be too evil or the sword will consume him. if he is not in a state where his heart is not biased, or he believes what he is doing is only to serve a certain side of the coin, the sword will be useless for him.
appearance : describe their hero vibe : since he doesn't really believe himself to be a hero, most of the time eurus will not have a costume. although lately, he did find it easier to fight in jeans, a armor vest, and a leather jacket.
–
ORIGIN AND NORMAL LIFE:
decription on file : coming from a long line of royal knights and supernatural hunters, it was a no brainer that eurus would soon inherit the line … and with it, the executioner’s sword. according to legend, the sword was crafted to bridge and end a secret war between the forces of heaven and hell, and their family has held it’s power under the blessing of the two forces. as part of his training, he was taught intensively the importance of keeping a fair heart– of not letting goodness blind his eyes of white lies that might hide behind it, while also making sure he isn’t corrupted by evil and cruelty.
behind the hero : outside of being a hero, eurus is the owner and bartender at the diabolical, which also acts as his office for his supernatural hunting job and the main headquarters of the holy blades in elysium city. if he is not manning the bar, he would be somewhere around the world fighting the forces of good and evil who are going out of line ... or he is a mentor at fortitude hall.
limitations : though highly skilled with hydrokinesis, his power still depends on available moisture; he can draw water from the environment or from the small internal reserves he carries, but in dry or sealed locations his range and strength noticeably weaken. large-scale manipulations- like lifting massive bodies of water or creating powerful surges, are physically taxing even for him, demanding stamina that limits how often he can perform such feats. his precision work requires steady focus, and while he rarely loses control, emotional strain can cause water to subtly ripple or react around him, revealing what he’s feeling more than impairing him. his hydroregeneration has clear boundaries as well: he can mend injuries, stabilize the dying, and accelerate recovery, but he cannot regrow limbs, instantly reverse fatal wounds, or bypass the body’s need for natural healing. each act of healing comes with a faint echo of the patient’s pain- an empathic resonance that grounds him without overwhelming him; and while he can heal himself, doing so is slower, more draining, and far less efficient than treating others.
appearance : mainly sleeveless combat armor that keeps his body protected even though he’s nor really a figther, blue/black/white/ - belt, mask, barefoot

ORIGIN AND NORMAL LIFE:
description on file :
blake comes from the sannara, one of the three known extraterrestrial races to reach earth, born into a culture defined by discipline, hierarchy, and militaristic precision. while the sannara were originally sent as observers and silent enforcers for the intergalactic council, blake never fully fit the mold carved out for him. on his homeworld, he served in the rear ranks as a battlefield medic, tending to injured soldiers rather than charging into conflict. his parents saw him as a runt, a genetic underperformer in a race obsessed with strength and combat output. blake, however, saw it differently: he possessed strengths his people overlooked such as patience, compassion, strategy, and a sharp intellect that made him invaluable on the backlines. after years of trying to meet standards built for someone he would never be (like his siblings), he took the most sannaran action he could think of: he left.
coming to earth was an enormous risk, especially for someone who had spent his life stitching up the warriors who maintained order for the council. yet fortitude hall felt like the first place where he was not the weakest link or the odd one out, just someone with a different skillset. even so, the students and some faculty see him as not as strong as other extraterrestrials, unaware of how deeply such judgments mirror the voices he left behind. blake shrugs it off. he is not here to impress them. he is here because earth is unpredictable, messy, and full of fragile beings who need someone dependable in their corner.
blake’s bedside manner is famously blunt, equal parts sarcasm and truth, but those who get past his dry exterior find a mentor who shows up every single time. he has no patience for arrogance and even less patience for self-pity, but he will sit with a homesick first-year at three in the morning without hesitation. he may not be the strongest sannaran ever born, but he is the one you want stabilizing you on the battlefield, correcting your form in training, or calling you out when you are spiraling. blake came to earth to escape a life of being overlooked, and in doing so, he became exactly what fortitude needs: the mentor built for the one percent brave enough to rely on him.
behind the hero :
blake carries himself with the calm precision of someone who has spent a lifetime observing before acting. he is perceptive in ways that unsettle some of the students at fortitude hall, able to pick up on tension, fear, or hesitation long before anyone speaks. despite his composed exterior, blake moves with nimble confidence, a quiet reminder that strength is not only defined by size or force. his presence can seem mysterious at first. he speaks little, measures his words carefully, and keeps new acquaintances at arm’s length. yet beneath that guarded surface is someone who is simply determined not to let anyone down.
although blake’s humor can lean mordant and his beliefs can be rigid, his intentions remain steady and sincere. he knows better than most that the superhuman students at fortitude require a different kind of guidance, one marked by patience and an understanding of the weight they carry. he approaches mentorship with the same precision he once used as a medic, aware that a careless action or poorly chosen direction could shape a young hero’s entire future. his reticence is not disinterest. it is a quiet promise to be careful with the responsibility placed on him.
when he chooses to train someone, he commits completely. blake sees potential where others see risk, and he refuses to let that potential go unrealized. he is eager to teach students how to move with intention, how to think before striking, and how to become someone who can stand steady in a world full of uncertainty. even if he rarely says it outright, blake believes every hero in training deserves someone who will show up for them without hesitation. he intends to be that person, shaping warriors who will not only survive the battlefield but step onto it with confidence in who they have become.
limitations : new world: due to urilai’s origin, magic was a way of life for him. it was easy for him to tap into the leylines to power his magic as it was an innate thing to do. however, as he arrived into the new world, he didn’t have access to it and is now using another omnipresent cosmic force to supplant it, gravity. he may be applying his past knowledge into learning how to wield it, but it is still taking some getting used to.
appearance : for the time being, it is still pretty much the clothes that he has on his back. a ragged cloak, leather pieces, damaged armor, and roughened matte fabrics. almost looks like a renaissance festival goer, if they were half burnt.

ORIGIN AND NORMAL LIFE:
description on file : not much is known about the man, and it does not help that he does not speak the same language. though, he does appear to be cooperative despite his unsettling appearance. someone described it as if he were split into two and melded back together. however, both sides clearly don’t belong together, and neither seem to be human. the horns on his head and his oddly shaped ears are a dead giveaway. however, his appearance is not the only information we have. our researchers have found a crater, roughly his size, in the middle of a meadow. we would have concluded this finding as the cause for the uncharacteristic tremor that had occurred earlier, but as we continued our findings, we noticed gravity in the nearby area behaving erratically. now, we have to understand how he managed to find fortitude on his own.
behind the hero : urilai was a distinguished mage before the rift had changed his life entirely. in one moment, he remembered his home, a world built on the mana currents that flowed through the sky like unseen rivers. next thing he knew, he was using himself as a conduit, doing his best to prevent the worst from occurring. he's unsure if he even accomplished his mission. the leyline collapsed, and suddenly, the implosion rewrote him. urilai's right eye went completely black. his once reddish tan skin was smeared with pale, iridescent discoloration as if touched by astral frost. and before he could reorient himself, he was pulled inward.
he was dragged through the collapsing dimensional wound of warped space, suspended in nothingness, unable to breathe, unable to hear, unable to think—just raw mana screaming around him.
and then, silence.
urilai crashed into earth like a falling star, already leaving his mark with the crater that he left behind. however, he was no longer a master mage. not in this world devoid of the flowing mana that he was used to. however, he was adaptive. it was definitely not the same, but he managed to connect with another cosmic force.
this world would take time to understand. the people. the physics. the fractured magic. but in time, urilai would find a place within it. already, in the short time he's arrived, he has found a home in the academy as a mentor, a dimension in need of guidance, and students he could protect with the same determination he once had for his own world.
limitations : deluge’s powers are fairly balanced, but he thrives near large bodies of water where he can pull water for his skills. he’s best in the ocean where he can grow gills, propel himself forward and handle himself at further depths than most humans
appearance : roman, or deluge, often fight with two weapons where he’s able to manifest the appearance based on need. he’s most often using two short swords. he wears a dark navy blue with a uniform that resembles scales for his ocean affinity.

behind the hero : roman is a cocky prick, he loves the powers he has and loves how much the other alphas love to party. he’s not afraid of a good time and wants to enjoy himself fully before the superhero gig kicks itself off and he has to be a shiny beacon of hope. his ideal would be to just party his way around the world, but perhaps he just needs a shock to show him what it takes to let his generation to just not really care about what true terror looks like.
powers : probability manipulation / secondary n/a / probability awareness
limitations : while subject thirteen’s powers are immense, he is limited by his understanding of the universe. because of his probability awareness this understanding can come in bursts, granting almost random increases or decreases in power. additionally, due to the traumatic events of his past he uses medication to suppress his power further. additionally, his power operates on “real space” and he is unable to effect metaphysical aspects, or things without physical structure. probability awareness is already overwhelming; sensory or mental attacks are impossible to defend against and will debilitate him. large scale probability manipulation risks causality cascade failure, and repeated manipulation is extremely exhausting. his powers destabilize local reality, and he risks serious backlash as reality tries to correct itself.
appearance : black armor, tattered cloak and a mask like bleached bone. apotheosis, the child god, wants to present the image he is unbreakable. it is a lie. he is deeply vulnerable and fragile.

ORIGIN AND NORMAL LIFE:
decription on file : child of darkness / bronze skin, green eyes and a smile plastered too quickly. subject 13 is a deeply sad person, attempting to hide his melancholy behind politeness and manners. / abducted off the street, subject 13 lost his name along with much of his past. his mind strained under his burgeoning power, and the stress of experimentation broke it. he has only fragmented memories of his life before the lab. the table, drugs and torture were the only thing he knew. it was an act of near impossible effort to rehabilitate him. he still has no knowledge of who he was, no recorded name. he’s subject 13. the child god.
behind the hero : 13 spends most of his time trying to keep it together. his powers can be wildly unstable, and often have terrible consequences if not used carefully. he may be recovering in bed from over exertion or in sensory depravation to avoid being overwhelmed. he has no job and is supported entirely by the heroes of fortitude hall.
limitations : his co-dependence on his mom, overconfidence, and lack of focus
appearance : flux looks more like a vigilante than a hero, he dresses in black and metallic silver, a half mask that just overed his eyes and a loose top with a hood that he keeps up all the time to disguise himself. the rest is cargo pants with items he keeps in his pockets like ball bearings and scrap metal he uses to fight

limitations : limits: though the use of light has nearly no limits, the agent is still limited by what his body can take and give out. excessive use of the power can be taxing and would require rest to recharge. the agent's ability to produce light by himself is also limited, and he would also require an outside source of light to have more power, which could be natural or artificial light.
appearance : describe their hero vibe : as a student who is still learning his trade, lucky pretty much dresses as one. usually in a letterman or a denim jacket, plain shirt, and jeans and sneakers. most of his clothes, though, are properly treated with a secret formula given by the daedalus institute, which makes his clothes durable enough to take on the wear and tear caused by his powers.

ORIGIN AND NORMAL LIFE:
decription on file : born from two giants of the hollywood industry, and with siblings that have their own time in the limelight, a star was also what the world predicted lucky will be since he started showing his face in public. but where people expected him to be an actor like his parents and siblings, lucky decided to branch out and made a name as a singer instead. and with that undeniable wolfe touch, it was no surprise when he and his band, the sunset boys, also became a big hit. so big in fact that many people forget that the kid is also a superhero in his own right.
behind the hero : outside of being a hero, lucky pretty much spends his time as a singer and playing gigs with his band, both within elysium and around the world. and when he's not singing, he also runs his own streaming and youtube channel where he chronicles his life as a young hero. this is prohibited and he's gotten quite a lot of disapproving looks from agetor and magnitude, but you know what they say: you can't stop a kid who can run a hundred times faster than you.
