ELYSIUM CITY – it started as an anomaly: a cryptic symbol spray-painted on roadside barriers, draped as massive banners over downtown high-rises, and embedded within websites, newspapers, and local art. now, that symbol has become the face of a growing crisis.
for weeks, the question " have you seen this symbol? " has circulated among uneasy citizens. while initially dismissed by officials as a prank or urban legend, a startling turn of events has forced the city’s hand.
following an exposé by the voice of elysium regarding a leaked confidential document from the elysium police department (epd), the truth has finally come to light. despite initial denials and condemnations from the chief of police, officials now admit the document is authentic.
the report confirms a chilling reality: the recent surge in street violence and organized crime is not a series of coincidences. instead, it is a coordinated, escalating uprising of both human and superhuman criminals, orchestrated by an as-yet-unidentified force.

the epd remains deep in a joint investigation with the lazarus front, searching for the mastermind behind this unprecedented wave of instability. fortitude hall has also pledged its full support, mobilizing resources to maintain the city's fragile peace.
during a recent address at blessed park, the hero solaris, acting as a representative for the city's protectors, sought to reassure a nervous public.
" for ten years, we have kept this city safe and its people protected. each of us has sworn an oath to this task for life, " solaris stated. " in that decade, we ensured that peace remained our standard. we will not break our promise now. "

powers : superior iq and deep knowledge of future technology. with this, overdrive has created a special kind of battle suit that allows him to be really mobile and resilient, while he uses his high technology weapons (mostly plasma blasts and enhanced grenade launchers) to attack his enemies at long-mid range.
limitations : he is limited by the current technology available at the time, and while he certainly is skilled enough to come up with inventions of his own to bridge the gap between current tech and his vision, some materials or energy sources are too hard to come by for him to make his machines and inventions as strong as they could be. in addition to that, his body is not supernaturally enhanced at all, so he is more frail than most heroes with enhanced physiques.
appearance : he wears a high tech suit that is mostly black with some white accents. some led lights shine in the joints and holographic panels beam out of his arms to give commands to his weaponry. instead of a full helmet, he has a holographic visor that helps him with battle intel and readings on his surroundings.

description on file : landon was born out of love from the union of two heroes: legion and gossamer. much like the latter, he was created in vitro using both of his parents’ dna, but he wasn’t blessed with special skills or abilities to match those of his fathers.
growing up, however, landon started to shine somewhere else: he had a mind sharp and advanced for his age, and his smarts were quickly noticed by their hero society. as the son of two great heroes, he was nourished and nurtured into developing a genius like intellect when it came to machinery and technology, getting to design gadgets and weaponry for his parents and other heroes in his teenage years.
despite not having powers of his own, because he didn’t consider his brain a super power, landon kept working hard to make his parents proud and to follow in their footsteps. perhaps too hard. his obsession with developing a greater, better power source for his inventions went a little bit too far when he started experimenting with saronite reactors…
his genius level intellect opened a few doors for him, allowing him to work at very advanced laboratories to test some of his ideas. the time dilation technology that caused the rift that sent him to the past was not his own doing, but it reacted poorly with his saronite powered suit and that caused the accident. landon doesn’t remember much more than a huge outburst of energy coming from the core of his suit and the feeling of floating aimlessly in space for an eternity. all he knows is that he woke up, 30 years earlier, in the empty lot where the laboratory would one day be.
he never thought he’d get the chance to meet his parents in their prime, but he certainly couldn’t let the opportunity pass. with his inventions and his brains, he secured a spot in the modern (or past, gue guesses) hero world. now he works at fortitude hall, becoming a hero like his parents, but finally getting the chance to walk by their side instead of under their shadow.
landon still hasn’t figured out how to return to the future, but it’s a side project now that he has so much to teach, to learn and to experience in the present.
powers : primary : card magic. fortuna is able to wield a deck of tarot cards with their magic that allow them to cast out the major arcana. in their arsenal is are the basics of the arcana, and whichever card is call has a different but beneficial power summoning for their allies or against their enemies ( ex: strength = force-field or strength boost / the tower = random or bad weather ). / secondary: magic card manipulation. on top of their cards having magical properties, fortuna can actually manipulate the physical cards to do their bidding, such as create slicing barriers around them or even form a big one to fly on. / tertiary: favorable luck. while they’re still in debate on whether or not this is an actual power or not, fortuna tends to have a higher luck streak than the average person, and when in sticky situations, they tend to find ways out that don’t cost them, every now and again actually benefitting from them.
limitations : randomization. because they’re a novice, one big problem is that fortuna cannot control what their magic deck deals out, which can be a hindrance at times. while they’re hoping it’s because they have no experience, fortuna usually says that fate isn’t meant to be controlled to an extent, and it shows with their lack of choice in the cards.
appearance : while somewhat simple, fortuna’s costume is to mirror that of a magician’s assistant, as well as some personal touches of a small black mini skirt, black crossed suspenders, and a white tank top, topped with black knee-high fishnets and white & red converse. their outfit carries the minor arcana, particularly the 3 of swords, which is on their tank top, on their black choker, stylized on their black gloves, pinned on their suspenders, and along their shoes. they also where sword-like earrings that dangle.

description on file : under the guidance of mistborn, fortuna holds true to their name by blessing their allies with some form of magic within the bounds of their cards, either by protecting and aiding their allies by manifesting fate to a form of flesh, or by attacking their enemies with what the Arcana offers. hoping to understand more of the magic within the cards, fortuna learns with each battle, as well as the true essence of magic.
behind the hero : they don’t know much of how they came to be in the cult of the children of sorrow, but aleja was siphoned and forced to use their gifts to feed the destiny of crooked and wicked men. they never drank the kool-aid, and with some pre-planned scheming, aleja managed to escape and survive along the streets, basically hitch-hiking along until they made it to fortitude hall. however, they can’t get this feeling that the cult’s grasp hasn’t been lost off of them, and their one dread is returning to the dreaded place.
limitations : bear’s powers are all connected by touch, including his empathy. his tactile telekinesis is very new, and the biggest reason he’s enrolled in fortitude, to learn how to control his virtual “super body”.
appearance : bear isn’t very focused on fashion. his personal aesthetic runs to comfortable, simply shirts and jeans, and a close-cut hairstyle, usually. he’s often seen in a fitted and worn, but cared for, black leather jacket, often decorated with several band patches, and maybe a liberal political slogan buttons or two. he doesn’t yet have a hero costume, as he’s not a public superhero… yet.

description on file : little bear was connected to fortitude through city municipal. there was an accident involving his budding tactile telekinesis, that caused moderate structural damage. but there were no injuries, and bear showed clear remorse and devotion to learning his ability, so such danger is under control.
behind the hero : bear was raised in a home full of “social justice warriors”, guiding his own ethics and morals in a very liberal direction. he shows distrust and distain for authority, considering “justice” a tier above “police”. however, his history in activism has been clearly non-violent, and responsible.
limitations : give them one or two limits : limited energy for portals / portals are not instant and take a moment to form
appearance : describe their hero vibe : like a dark knight with a flaming sword, gatewatch is a force of nature on the battlefield. cape billowing, sword shining. the portals he creates are ringed with the tattered edges of carved space.

decription on file : dr. elias thornehart is a brilliant scientist, and through his genius he mastered portal creation. he sought to help people with his technology, while quietly judging if society was ready for what he could unleash by selling it. he crafted his blade, aeternum, and set out to become a hero. he was part of the original protectors, and a short two years after they announced themselves to the world they were attacked. a bomb threatened to destroy the city, and he used his powers to send it away. but in the backlash he was drawn into the portal he had created. assumed dead, he instead went to one of the demon realms. a land known as the red labyrinth. he spent sixty years trapped there, fighting demons, evading capture and making himself the enemy of it’s ruler. eventually he challenged the leader of these demons to a game of wits. if he lost, he would surrender. if he won, the demon prince would give him the power to return home. gatewatch won. with hellfire now fueling aeternum he ripped through the barriers between dimensions and returned home. he had been ageless in the demon realm, not realizing how much time had passed. he expected to return to a heroes welcome. instead he arrived amid ruins. now he returns to the life of a hero, staggered and uncertain. a legend returned. a myth realized. and he is terrified of what it means to be someone that was looked up to.
behind the hero : once, he was a father. a husband. a scientist. now he is unmoored. his husband is dead. his son is a middle aged man. his lab sold. unmoored and thrown into chaos, he clings to what he can. teaching. helping. saving the world. knowing all the while that he may have to give his life again.
powers : primary — telekinesis (mastered) : miho can manipulate objects and force with precision, suspending, throwing, redirecting, or shaping kinetic energy through his mind. his control is refined, elegant, and extremely responsive. he prefers leveraging the environment to his advantage—flinging debris at enemies or tossing their bodies into obstacles. / secondary — kinetic combat (expert) : even though he favors distance, miho is far from helpless up close. if someone closes the gap, he channels telekinesis through his punches and kicks, amplifying impact and delivering devastating strikes. / tertiary — telekinetic flight (passive/instinctive) : using telekinesis, miho can fly, levitate, hover, and glide with smooth, aerial precision.
limitations : emotional instability : strong emotions—jealousy, panic, heartbreak, rage—can make his telekinesis volatile or unpredictable. his composure is directly tied to his precision. / overexertion : extended high-level tk use involving many large objects or sustained lifts causes migraines, nosebleeds, or blackout events reminiscent of his initial power awakening.
appearance : hero aesthetic: sleek, sharp, modern. miho’s suit is black with iridescent pink, purple, teal, and silver accents that glow faintly when his telekinesis activates. symmetrical linework along his arms and spine pulses with each telekinetic command. his boots and gloves are lightweight for aerial maneuvering, and the suit is reinforced at the joints to handle kinetic recoil. he describes his vibe as “telekinetic acrobat meets anime action protagonist.”

decription on file : miho kang wasn’t always the confident heartbreaker now walking among fortitude’s halls. he began as a withdrawn, painfully awkward kid who avoided crowds like a survival strategy. overwhelmed by sensations he couldn’t explain, he stayed small and quiet until a group of new friends dragged him into parties, hookups, and social climbing. reinventing himself became a learned skill, and he mastered confidence the same way he now masters momentum—with calculated force.
his powers awakened at 17 during a house party gone wrong. high on a substance he wasn’t ready for and slightly drunk, miho’s telekinesis erupted in a chaotic burst: furniture levitating, bottles shattering midair, the entire living room twisting into a zero-gravity disaster zone. someone thankfully intervened before anyone was harmed, offering him training and a future he had never imagined.
now 29, he’s returned to fortitude as a late-entry student, finally ready to refine abilities he spent years coasting on—and maybe, maybe, figure out who he actually is beneath the persona he wears like armor.
behind the hero : behind the mask, miho is a flirt and, at times, a chronic self-saboteur. he couch-surfs between friends, bartends part-time, and has a reputation for leaving more broken hearts than broken villains. he’s charming but messy, confident but avoidant—someone who knows how to turn on the swagger but still flinches when someone genuinely sees him.
as much as he enjoys hero work, he’s realized it’s time to train properly instead of relying solely on instinct, raw power, and improvisation.
powers : raji derives all of his power from the curse and flesh-bound tome known as the necronomicon. to glimpse upon its contents will drive the reader insane, flooding their mind with the incomprehensible. the amulet bestowed upon raji by his late father makes him capable of reading the necronomicon and wielding the dark magics within. it also makes the creatures summoned friendly to himself and his allies. using the necronomicon lovecraft can cast a wide variety of spells, pulling forth entities from the great beyond. he can summon tentacles to lash at foes, clawed talons, and even entire entities of awful origins. this is only limited due to his lack of experience and need to research the necronomicon further. / the amulet that raji wears is permanently bonded to him. it sits on a simple golden chain but is impervious to being broken or pulled away from his person. the necronomicon, magical and awful in origin is also bound to raji. it will teleport to wherever he is, no matter the distance or circumstance.
limitations : lovecraft has no true powers of his own and draws them entirely from the necronomicon. because of this he often remains out of combat, engaging the enemy using spells or directing his summoned creatures to fight on his behalf. he must recite his spells therefore being made unable to speak will make him useless.
appearance : lovecraft wears a black-colored sherwani laced with silver embroidery and buttons. over his right shoulder he wears a saree that nearly touches the ground. the fabric of the saree itself is magical in origin, shifting with unknown constellations from galaxies devoured by slumbering gods.

decription on file : adopted by a pair of adventurers, raji has known excitement his entire life. he accompanied his parents on grand quests into lush jungles and forgotten temples. it was on a seafaring adventure that his parents discovered a chest containing the necronomicon and an amulet. raji was given the mysterious necklace by his father as a gift to celebrate their discovery. his parents would become rich and famous upon selling the necronomicon, cementing themselves in the world of the occult and esoteric. only that never happened. they had dared to open the necronomicon out of curiosity and were immediately flooded with visions of the inconceivable. they were compelled by unseen forces to fling themselves into the ocean enroute to land, abandoning their son in the process. raji woke, startled by something scratching at the door to his little room on their little ship. waking he discovered the necronomicon upon his chest and that the ship had been boarded by denizens of the deep. raji never saw his parents again but was now host to the powers of the great beyond.
behind the hero : after accidentally summoning a gigantic tentacled beast in the middle of his hometown, raji quickly caught the attention of magic users around the globe. his use of the necronomicon made him particularly interesting to those with evil intent. they stalked raji, compelling him to join their cause and to allow them use of the necronomicon. raji sought refuge within fortitude hall, knowing that there were magical heroes who might help him better understand his new powers. so it was within those halls that raji enlisted with the holy blades, using the cursed book to fight off demonic and magical entities that threaten the world.
powers : primary - angelic-alien technology via holy ring bestowal: nefertiti bares their race’s powers by a golden ring embedded along their tail, calling upon ‘divine’ energies from this world & beyond that grant them large claw gauntlets of an ancient metal, a whipping tail of holy fire, & the ability to breathe holy fire at opponents. / secondary - divine rune casting: from the holy ring along their tail, nefertiti is able to cast runes of their people that can invoke either blessing-like energies or harsh curses for people depending on what the runes invoke. / tertiary - feline physiology: as part of their race, nefertiti naturally has a felinic physiology mixed with humanoid features, mostly that of cat ears, vertical pupils, and a tail. they’re often glamoured to conceal / appear more human, but their tail usually stays out.
limitations : bloodstones - a testament to their 'divine’ heritage, bloodstones are said to be made of the pure opposite of what nefertiti’s power comes from, and when near them, it renders their powers to a dangerously weak scale, doubled if the bloodstone is enchanted or nefertiti is cut with one, also physically weakening them.
appearance : relying along the visuals of a holy cat guardian or angel of sorts, nefertiti’s apparel revolves along a small white-gold bikini, a holy visor that covers their eyes as well as metal ears, and holy pink ribbons and bands along their arms and ankles that match the holy band that is on their tail. their tail also bares a white floating flame when in costume.

description on file : sitting on the very border of the mystical & the extraterrestrial, nefertiti appeals the people almost like that of an ancient goddess with their otherworldly aura and their 'heavenly’ gift to battle evil. their ability to manifest the divine has made them a very notable hero, and has become a guardian to the helpless and extremely vulnerable.
behind the hero : hailing from the planet ubeqtar, laila’s race of people were considered blood descendent of what this universe would possibly consider 'angels’, thus creating a uniquely religious culture dedicated to the the decoding of pre-historic runes. however, their planet became embroiled in a civil galactic war, and their home was overrun with adversarial heretics who destroyed and sold their people into slavery. in a last hope effort, laila’s caretakers stowed them along a ring of saturn, where they drifted in a gem like pod that would crash into earth’s atmosphere centuries later. fascinated with earth’s culture and their various histories of religion and tradition, laila would become fortitude’s newest head of research, though when the time calls, they brandish their ring and protect, fueled with the hope of people never having to experience what they’ve lost.
powers : incubus physiology - morreith is a supernatural being with the inherent abilities and associated with his species. anatomically, bilquis has horn that are in the shape of bat-like wings that are similar to the larger pair on his back. he has retractable claws & fangs and a pointed tail for natural weaponry. his malleable anatomy allows him to shapeshift and modify the physical aspects, becoming a shapeshifting weapon. innately, he is capable of manipulating tantric energies. soul energy manipulation - morreith has the ability to siphon soul energy/life-force of a living creature through tantric metabolism. at maximal, morreith is capable of completely draining a target. storing this energy allows him to produce a series of abilities that can be similar to magic - creating projectiles/blasts, fading/teleporting, creating illusions/temporary duplicates, empowering his physical condition, etc. he is capable of giving these energies a physical manifestation such as bats, flaming skulls, and/or energy butterflies. enhanced condition - morreith’s dexterity, durability, strength, accelerated healing, and attraction exceeds superhuman limits.
limitations : mirrors help dispel visual illusions. his soul has been severed into three parts (a. physical form - b. shapeshifting weapon - c. unknown) and his powers are greatly reduced without the last fraction of it. he is weaker against magic attacks and he must recharge his soul energy reserves to function maximally.

description on file : the name of morreith aegis means very little to most of the people of the mortal plane. but to the children of sorrows, it meant everything. it meant control. morreith is sworn heir to his father’s throne, a infernal realm that. to protect it and other realms, morreith’s essence was split into three parts. the first as a manifestation of morreith. the second was a forged weapon, capable of becoming any armament his imagination could think. the last was hidden away from him and prying eyes. its location sealed within the memories of the forgotten king. his own rule was cut short as the children of sorrows evoked his presence to this realm and used him as a conduit for their twisted purposes. no one ever said that his morality - purpose & intention, would have conflicted with theirs. it just so happened that mercy is not a gift he was granted. his wrath is often married to his vengefulness.
behind the hero : therapeutic methods have helped bilquis adapt to the possibility that he may never return to his home and his title may be lost to an unfit, impish house. his own memories feel as if they are plagued with the fact that he isn’t whole. a part of him is even afraid of what may happen should he reunite with all three portions of his soul. a part of him is envious of the mortals who do not get to experience the emptiness within him. he has learned that with their help, he may be able to fully control his abilities, even without all the pieces. and he holds to the sensation of pain as he would pleasure. he is now on a quest to full realize whether his experiences were factual or if they were all constructs to keep him under his “father’s” control.
powers : power augmentation / sensory overload / twin telepathy
limitations : due to the dangerous and unpredictable nature of their powers and their own broken psyche after mind melder’s death, the pryce twins were put into cryo sleep until scientists found a way to reduce the potency of their powers. from being able to create amplification and sensory overload zones centered around himself, key’s powers have been reduced to tactile - based triggers. key is now only able to supplement powers or overload someone’s senses through direct touch, the longer he touches the more overstimulated he can make them which can result in the loss of consciousness. the twins’ telepathy is also dependent on their distance from each other, not working if they are too far from each other. however, there is evidence that lock and key can feel each other’s sensations and emotions, if strong enough, no matter the distance.
appearance : key dresses like his brother, though does sometimes opt for a varied color palette. he enjoys telling people he is Hayden so he isn’t ever too far off clothing wise.

description on file : through years of genetic meddling and trial - and - error with experimentations for the serum to express specific set of powers, the pryce twins were created to be powerful weapons in mind melder’s quest to wipe out those he deemed lesser. while his twin brother had the power to nullify the powers of mind melder’s enemies and deprive them of their senses, key was meant to amplify mind melder’s powers, and immobilize those who would seek to do him harm, and silence dissent within their ranks. together, they were the perfect weapon. even without the brainwashing, the pryce twins would’ve still stood with mind melder : not knowing anything else other than the cause they were indoctrinated as children. they were loyal until mind melder’s end, forced into cryo - sleep until their potency of their powers could be reduced and their minds could become more malleable to rehabilitate and recondition. and years of attempts to wipe mind melder’s influence, the pryce twins were finally deemed normal and released under the condition that they must learn to be heroes in fortitude hall.
behind the hero : cayden was broken twice over, once by losing mind melder, and the second time being separated from his brother before they were frozen in cryo. He would consider it a third time after they woke up and his powers no longer worked like before and he could no longer hear his brother as he once had. The space in his head was deafening. having to have his own thoughts though meant that cayden spent a lot of time reading and coming up with his own worldview which can still tend to stray towards a villain mind set from time to time. Though he would play nice so long as it meant his brother was safe.
