A Guide To DNA Comics

Over the last three years I've essentially been building up my own superhero universe through short fiction released in different collections and through digital literary magazines. This began thanks to "Generation Dead #37: Why I Won't Eat At The Food Court," which From Beyond Press published in their mall horror anthology Escalators To Hell. Though retroactively, this will include the heroes who appeared in "To Do Good," my first published story released in What's Left? by Arledge Comics.

DNA Comics (formerly known as "Dan & Ann's Comics" in the 1940s) combines the concepts of 90s superheroes with 90s horror. Set primarily on Earth-1990, with some stories featuring Earth-1989 and Earth-2003. Below is a list of the established heroes and hero teams who've already appeared, have been mentioned, or are going to appear at some point.

I'd also imagine Albedo 23 would be super annoyed at how 23 calls the Omnitrix the Hero Watch.

Greetings heroes to be. I am professor Stanley W. Nicholson, I am your guide to the world of Heroes and Genju. To begin, let us start with your primary device for hero transformation.

Hero chargers: the ordinary, turned to the extraordinary.

Hero chargers are devices designed to attune with a Human and Genju’s resonance. These devices do this by transforming Genju into medals, these medals are assigned an arch-type that fits the Genju. The hero charger has three modes.

Summon mode: summon mode is the devices default mode, this takes a Genju’s medal and attunes to the Genju’s resonance. This causes the Genju to manifest in their physical form, here they can help by fighting while you evacuate the civilians, or to assist you in anything. Genju that are summoned have full autonomy and retain their will, however they can also be assigned objectives if they need to do something specific. If this mode is not active simply press the bottom right button.

Hero mode: the primary function of the hero charger, to activate this mode just simply tap the top right button of watch, this will initiate hero mode in which any medal inserted will have its Genju and the user of hero charger Henshin, turning into their hero form. Both the Genju and human are aware while in hero form, with the human taking the lead, meanwhile the Genju can act as a second pair of eyes and offer advice, as well as manifest moves or weapons required in that moment. The hero form also gains a certain buff unique to the arch-type of the Genju.

Crossover mode: the third and most advanced function, crossover mode combines two Genju medals into one temporary hero medal, this medal can either be used to summon the fusion or Henshin with it, with the hero form being exceptionally stronger, but now extremely limited due to the time limit of 5 minutes. Crossover mode is extremely powerful but extremely advanced, which is why it requires the pressing of both the hero mode and summon modes buttons

Genju: the heroes best friend.

Genju are elemental Spirits which roam the world like us humans, however they also act rather.. mischievous, sometimes Genju cause a ruckus which is what causes the many low rank missions you will receive. Genju can be befriended and if you do befriend them, they will transform into their medal, adding them to your team.

Teams: a team of Genju can only consist of 4 Genju, any and all these members can be summoned if you wish. The reason as to why stems from hero law issue #5. “A mass grouping of Genju can cause alarm, this can lead to more harm than good, so we at the bureau of heroics and vigilantism (BOHV) have decided teams shall be limited to four Genju”

Arch-types: arch-types or also called “tribes” are what make Genju understandable. Each arch-type represents a certain aspect of heroism or in terms of personality. There are 7 arch-types.

Guard: these are Genju made to protect, they use their powers defensively and most of the time are attuned to the earth, plant, and light attributes. With the occasional fire and lightning Genju thrown in.

Duelist: these are Genju focused on getting things done and being active about it instead of just reacting. Most of these Genju are attuned to the fire, water, and lightning attributes, with the rare mist attribute thrown in.

Inventor: these Genju are the genius’ of the Genju population, inventing new items and tools for any occasion. These Genju are primarily attuned to the Metal, Earth and Light attributes. As Well as sometimes the Insect attribute.

Daemon: these are usually malevolent or trickster Genju, these Genju use their cunning or brute force to fight. These Genju are mostly attuned to the shadow, fire, and metal attributes. With sometimes there being Wind and stone attribute Genju amongst them as well.

Beast: the most feral Genju, in tune with nature, these Genju are extremely practical and almost always rather vicious when dealing with threats, sometimes they are rather docile, making them rather easy to befriend. These Genju are connected to the insect, plant, and earth attributes. With a handful sometimes wielding the lightning attribute.

Alien: the Genju from the stars, these Genju are the most unknown and tend to vary in abilities, with their most known attributes being the connection to Psycho, shadow, and insect attributes.

Hero: the rarest of the arch-types, some say it doesn't even exist, but the Genju of this arch-type are said to be the Pinnacle of Hope and heroism, doing what they can to help others. They have no common attributes, instead these Genju are the most varied in attribute.

Attributes: these are the secondary markings a Genju will receive, as they tie them to certain elements. These attributes are as followed.

Fire

Water

Wind

Earth

Plant

Metal

Lightning

Light

Shadow

Psycho

Insect

Alchemist and Buccaneer Rumble Downtown

A Normal Force Police Officer was driving on patrol through downtown one hour after midnight this morning. It was quiet as his car turned onto the main thoroughfare. All of the stores and most restaurants were dark, closed for the night, just a few late-night pedestrians remained, strolling beneath the streetlights.

He had reached the end of the main thoroughfare when the silence was broken by shattering glass, followed by the screech of a jewelry store alarm.

He immediately swung around in a sharp u-turn and drove back toward the jewelry store, calling for backup on his radio. The few pedestrians still about ran past him, away from the source of the commotion, while the curious peered out of doors and windows, craning their necks for a better look.

The notorious villain, Buccaneer, was tearing up the street with a grin described as manic. She is a woman, believed to be in her late thirties, with light brown skin and short brown hair. She was wearing an updated model of her super-suit technology, made using her power of technological manipulation. Do not be fooled by the bulky, bright orange and blue armor which she wears from the neck down; she is highly dangerous, and able to move very quickly, each motion amplified by her super-suit.

Buccaneer yanked a lamppost out of the ground and swung it wildly at the approaching police car, sweeping past benches, knocking over umbrellas and stacks of chairs outside darkened restaurants in its wake. The police car was far enough away that the head of the lamp only glanced off of the hood, but the officer immediately reversed direction and called for backup from the Super Police (SuperPol). All bystanders were fortunately already out of Buccaneer’s reach.

Buccaneer did not pursue the officer as he retreated and instead turned her attention to the storefronts. She used the lamp post like a javelin to stab through the glass window of an electronics store, sending another alarm blaring.

She had just ducked inside to loot it, possibly looking for spare parts to upgrade her supersuit, when multiple witnesses saw a figure standing on a rooftop on the opposite side of the street. He was identified as The Alchemist, a mad scientist-styled vigilante, in a white lab coat, with heavy rubber gloves and safety goggles. He is a young man, believed to be in his mid twenties, of shorter than average height, with dark skin and short, curly black hair.

He removed one of his gloves and touched the gutter with his bare hand, turning the section directly under it into black goo with his highly dangerous power of molecular alteration. Then, he pulled the gutter away from the roof and used it to swing down to street level.

He quickly regained his footing and took off his gloves. Then he bent over to pick up a bit of debris from the ground and threw it into the electronics store. There was a flash of light and a tremendous bang of an explosion which left the electronics store scorched.

As though he had not done enough already, The Alchemist then shouted to get Buccaneer’s attention, with the clear intention of starting a fight.

Buccaneer crashed back out through the window in a single leap and the nearest bystanders heard her call out, “There you are! I was waiting for one of you to show up, give the new suit a real challenge!”

She lunged, and he slid out of the way, just in time.

As he scrambled back onto his feet, he shouted at her like he was in an amateur theater performance, “You’re the one who’s going to be an experiment!”

Witnesses heard the distant wail of a siren, quickly approaching, but neither Buccaneer nor The Alchemist appeared to notice.

Buccaneer tore out another lamppost and swung it at The Alchemist. He was only just able to duck, scooping up some more debris from the ground as he did, and tossing it toward her. The rubble exploded in the air, knocking them both away and tearing up the street around them. The Alchemist was thrown off his feet, and Buccaneer was launched back into the low fence around the outside seating area of an empty cafe.

Buccaneer was not down for long and witnesses heard her shout with an eager grin as she twisted the metal bars in her reinforced hands, “And here I was starting to worry you couldn’t throw a punch!”

She briefly examined the arms of her super-suit, presumably checking for damage, before she took a flying leap, launching herself at The Alchemist like a human missile.

He was only just able to jump out of the way, but he continued to egg Buccaneer on. The Alchemist was heard taunting her, “I don’t have to punch.”

Despite his bravado, he backed away as she advanced. According to witnesses, he seemed to be tired, breathing heavily.

Before either of them had the chance to do any more damage, an elite squad of SuperPol officers arrived on the scene to put an end to the fight, encircling the two combatants on their motorcycles. The Alchemist faltered, tripping over his heavy boots, but Buccaneer seemed not to notice them and took another step toward The Alchemist, looking ready to finish him off.

It took promising young officer, Neil Fangue, dismounting his motorcycle and delivering a warning to get her attention: “Stop where you are. Put your hands in the air and surrender peacefully.”

Buccaneer turned and shouted back at him, “Nice try!”

She appeared to be preparing to attack the officers, when The Alchemist reached out and touched Buccaneer’s bright blue boot, starting a highly dangerous molecular chain reaction that turned her super-suit to brown goop in an instant. And then, the vigilante scrambled to his feet and fled into the night, taking his discarded heavy gloves with him.

Officer Fangue and Officer Raye pursued while Buccaneer was taken into custody, but The Alchemist remains at large, his whereabouts unknown. Remember that The Alchemist is highly dangerous, with the power to alter any object’s molecular structure on contact. Report all potential sightings to SuperPol and do not engage.
