Yooooooo, guess who’s trudging her way back in after a year.
Updates in general:
First off, and with a somewhat heavy heart, I don’t think I’ll be opening up Asks or having any real interaction any time soon. I don’t feel like the community in general has changed enough to really assuage the misgivings I had with it.
On the other hand, at least I can still contribute when I feel like it rather than being under personal oath to avoid doing so explicitly for a year. It’ll also be nice to actually play the game again, though I’m probably going to wait for the big update. Nice to just be a regular ol’ fan again, rather than straining myself trying to make more of it than was realistic.
Despite what I said, I did continue to work with some of my characters after I dropped my activity here, but it was mostly as a means to bridge them over to an original setting in the event I abandoned Terraria entirely today, which I haven’t. I may reblog a few pieces from those doodlings over here in a little while, but for the most part you can find that stuff here and here.
I’ve started to come to terms with my general dislike of major content-adding mods that disrespect the core game by trying to one-up/eclipse core content, so Starfall might not really come to fruition under my current feelings. That said, I still would really rather other people didn’t make their own mods for my material because that’s really something I would like to have creative control over if it happened at all.
Fell’s sequel is dead in the water. The fact that it (and Fell itself) had gotten really dark thematically (on a psychological level and not just my usual body horror level) is one of the contributors to why I burned out; after sitting back to contemplate it, I just felt it wasn’t completely appropriate. It’s gonna stay up, as it’s a very rare instance of me actually completing something long-term, but don’t expect a continuation.
That’s about it for now. I’ll still be posting art. Depending on what hits me, it may or may not be frequent, as I’ve actually been on a daily art challenge this year, and having my old stomping ground back may or may not help with the material for that.
TL;DR - I’m back. Make of that what you will. :>
The store I work at refuses to turn on the AC before it opens, so pulling merch and stocking the floor is fun times.
Therefore, mood (doodled while waiting for morning meeting)
Ever since I followed this blog and seeing your crimson art and stuff..I've become more attuned to the crimson( witch I use to hate) Thank you???????
Why, you’re welcome!
I mean, it’s SUCH a given, the Crimson is ENTIRELY superior to the Corruption, there isn’t even a CONTEST.
...I mean, unless, you’re, like...
...a magic-user...
...then you’re outta luck.
Heya! I just wanted to say you're awesome and I love your drawings (esprcially the ones with Aberrant :-D). Quick question: what would be Aberrant's reaction to Corruption? Would he like it?
Thank you!
Aaaand...
Oh yeah, and to nip this in the bud before it becomes a thing, I DID give a general answer to whether or not Face Monsters (and, by extension, Aberrant) reproduce; it was indirectly addressed on this post and subsequently hidden behind a Read More tag, which is probably why people didn’t catch it (I didn’t think enough people cared at the time and figured I was being annoying haha).
To simply repost it here and NOT behind a readmore:
In my headcanon, creatures just… grow from the Crimson, there’s no actual reproduction or need for it on an individual level. Crimson bioforms simply grow from genetic templates of other lifeforms from surrounding biomes that make their way into the biome itself and die there, either by the overabundant, creeping biomass enveloping and mutating corpses or sampling the DNA of whatever’s left and growing something out of it. After a while, Crimson patches grow a distinct ‘memory’ of the most common lifeforms, which may or may not feed into one another over long distances due to their associated Brains, resulting in similar pools of bioforms from Crimson to Crimson. This is in contrast to the Corruption, which has its own predetermined templates, hence why their biotypes are a lot more uniform compared to the biotypes it he Crimson.
To add to that from a PM I got, Aberrant is a special case in addition to that. The whole reason he has the spark of intelligence is due to the Starfallen spirit living inside of him, which doesn’t have a physical form by itself anyway, so it also has no real inclinations to reproduce.
So while I’m not necessarily actively discouraging people from being attracted to him, that’s just my explanation for what’s going on when I write. :>
Bonus: We know there are baby Face Monsters and baby Crimeras because Bone Rattle, so yo:
worldbuilding
Crimeras would probably be the most default, while others are the results of DNA leeching and combining and mutating. Also, have a babby Herpling without its melting human skin. Excluding feesh and jellies for being fairly simple to start with.
Silly thread at TCF, where people leave random prompts and other people draw those prompts while leaving their own random prompts.
I decided to do "Draw a herpling and a derpling meeting each other."
