That stretch of wooded road should have been peaceful. A quiet run between two towns, with nothing but the sound of nature and the car itself to keep Jo company. But somewhere down the line, a hush fell over the forest. Like the landscape was holding its breath.
On the horizon, a pinprick of light could be seen through the driver's side window. It swelled like a comet, a burning blazing gold, and for a moment? It looked like the universe might have said fuck Jo in particular, because an entire damn METEOR was heading straight for her car. Changed its mind at the last second, because it streaked high overhead, and carved a thunderous path of broken trees through the woods beyond the road.
It wasn't the next extinction event — that was the good news. There was no mushroom cloud or concussive blast to flatten the car with Jo in it, not today. Lying inside that crater was Castiel, unconscious, looking like he'd gone ten rounds with Lucifer himself before the banishing sigil finished him off.
