Silver-spotted Skipper (Hesperia comma). by Bob Eade For the 2nd year running the Silver-spotted Skippers started to emerge on July 13th on my local patch. That 1st sighting was of a very lively individual and he evaded the camera. A few days later though I managed to catch this one on one of the favourite nectaring flowers, a Small Scabious. https://flic.kr/p/2jygiZo

Silver Spotted Skipper (Hesperia comma). by Bob Eade Silver-spotted Skipper on Wild Basil. I am lucky to live only a mile away from one of the top locations for this stunning little skipper butterfly, and it is well within easy walking distance from home. On the wing from mid July they can at times be a very frustrating species to photograph as they fly at fast speed and can be hard to follow in flight.
